Hello, One of my cruisair units has decided to stop. This unit is a 30,000btu split system with remote fans and evaporators. I turn the unit on and hit cool or heat and the unit starts up, however the fans do not kick in. When we first purchased the boat the units fans did not kick in either, i opened the relay box and notcied the small fan wire was unhooked from the board, I hooked the wire back up and everything was working fine for several hours then the fans stoped once again. They do not work on any speed setting at all. Ive checked all the things that i could think of. The fans them selfs are free and not seized up. They have power going to them, but for some reason are not being told to kick on with rest of the unit. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If the pump kicks in, if the compressor starts but the fans don't, then your problem is most likely with the control since it s unlikely that BOTH blowers would fail ate the same time.

That said, since you don't tell us what model control you have, it's going pretty hard for anyone to take a guess as to what the problem may be....

Which control do you have? Old fashioned rotaryor digital... If digital which one???

Sorry, lack of imformation does sometimes make it difficult. The control is a digital SMX control.

Sounds like the relay on the board has a problem.

When you say the above, have you tested for voltage AT the fans ? Or the leads that feed directly to the fans ?

I tested voltage up at the fan location, there showing voltage there, however if there showing voltage at that location shouldn't the fans be running. Sorry when it comes to electrical I tend to stay to the basics, as I have been bit one to many times lol.

I would agree. What voltage do you read and is it truly the operating voltage of the fans ?
A solenoid tester is sometimes better to test some AC voltage things because it only see's black and white sort of.
Sometimes a DVM tells you stuff that is hard to interpret.
If you have a running fan elsewhere in the boat that is of the same operating voltage, maybe you can swap it with the problem child to see for sure.

The voltage indicated on the box indicates 200/230volts. It's been a while since last checked but as I recall there was correct voltage up to the dual fan location. Each unit on the boat has its own fans, so that separates each unit in its own system. When I get back to the boat this weekend I will have to dig a little further as the more I think about it the more confused I become on the system. When i get back to the boat i will verify the voltage again to make sure. I'm guessing the unit is in need of a new board/relay from all the indications as stated by another member. Greatly appreciate all the time and help/suggestions pertaining to the issue.
