This is a photo I took last fall of the original prototype, Midnight Lace #0001. I am putting together whatever information on her that I can find to present to her owner in a binder this spring, if anyone has information to contribute I know he would appreciate it! Thanks in advance.

I believe this boat was originally owned by a man who's name I forget but he was an avid boat person. He was involved with the boat museum in Clayton New York which is a must see if you love mahogany runabouts and race boats. I think they have the largest hacker craft ever built. He also had a home in Vero Beach with a covered swimming pool that usually had one or two wooden boats in it so they wouldn't dry out. He had a full time guy who just varnished and cared for his boats. I just remembered, his last name was Lewis.

According to an article in Motor Boating and Sailing published in March, 1979, the original Midnight Lace was to go on sale at $260,000.

Last couple of weeks I have been coming home, walking by and smiling at a pretty lil Lace.
Starts the evening off with a smile every time. I'm afraid they are going to splash her soon.
That's OK, pretty ole Daytona still next to her. 20150729_122712.jpg

Anybody knows what happened to the boat that inspired Tom Fexas to design the Midnght Lace Series? I´m talking about the Robinson commuter boat Judith R.

The last time I saw "Judith R" she was lying at Colton's Point Marina off the Potomac in Maryland. Her owner had passed away. I see on the web that she was sold to a new owner in the UK and was perhaps shipped there.

Thank you, Eric. It would be nice if there´s someone to keep that interesting boat alive in an adequate condition since Judith R is an interesting boat just a little outside the typical mainstream style of her days.

Is there something going on with the hull paint aft of the life ring.? It looks like bubbles on my screen

Poor phone pic lost a lot down sizing. The hull and paint did look good.
In the hull, I think those were vents.
She is splashed but still here. I'll take another peek if I can but I'm sure it's a poor picture and vents showing up.

The next ship is an old Daytona 45. Looks like some little trim work and a refinish on the transom. Another pretty ole boat to view at the end of the day. I do enjoy some of the views around this old yard sometimes.

Seem to be side ladder hardware and a fold out step if I'm looking at the same blems.
She does look great in the water.
