It would make sense to sell the survey, and you could recoup a portion of your costs.

Hi Sherrie, I understand your frustration....it happens more often than you know. There are so many boats out there for sale...it boggles the mind. I would re-think the Aluminum hull for a live aboard. I do however wish you the very best in your quest.

And who would I sell the survey to?

Jkroamer may be interested. He said that he is interested in the boat, so I suggest you tell him items caused you to back away. If those things don't scare him away from the boat, maybe you can recoup some of your costs while saving him some money.

In my opinion, CC did not build a really good quality aluminum boat. Burger set the standard and CC is a long way off that.

That's like comparing Apples and Oranges, fully custom builder vs production builder.
Price point wise is non comparable also. You could say the same thing about Burger price and quality vs Broward. Although closer in the build. Burgers were 40% more expensive due to the cashe of the name & reputation of quality of the build.

I personally appreciate your opinions and didn't mean any disrespect. However, if you want to get your semantics aligned opinion wise of custom vs production builders than you can PM me or start a conversation at any time you feel the need for guidance ok?
We're all here for you Dennis... Take a deep breath , no offense intended.

Frankly, I see nothing wrong with what CaptHolli posted. He didn't say your opinion was wrong in saying Burger was better than CC. He simply said that was an apples and oranges comparison, which it is. It's like comparing Boston Whaler to Jim Smith or Azimut to Feadship.

I personally think CC built a good boat for what it was and the number of people happily owning older ones and restoring them tends to support that. I also think Burger built a lot of very nice boats which have endured.

I am now the owner of a 58 ft. Hatteras Yacht Fisherman. I bought it in Florida. I am having it hauled out and having the bottom done, besides many other things. I am naming her: Namaste

I will then bring her up to Knoxville from Rivera Beach, Fla.

I ran and maintained one of those for many years in Florida. What's her name?

She was in the Gulf before this from my understanding. The person I am buying it from only had her 3 years and bought her in the Texas area. He had her name changed at that time to Caprichio. I have been reading about the 'ceremony' that you have to do for name changing of a boat so everything will go right. I plan on doing that for her name change again. ;)

Find a dawg tag machine and have the previous names printed. Also print the new name.
Neptune and his partners don't like the cheap stuff, (mid prices is o k).
She needs to be off the dock, Ensigns and burgees flying, Neptune hates dock queens.
We need a schedule and address. A good sized group of friends is important also, you will need more Champagne.

Yep I have read all about what to do for the name change. I found the previous name before this owner because there were 4 different plaques with the name "De Javu". I thought, no wonder the person I bought it from did not have good luck with it. He kept the previous name on the boat and changed it. I have taken those plaques off, all the very nice expensive towels with the current name off too. I have hunted for any other name placements on her. I will have to get it off the transom and then do the complete 'ceremony' of giving the name to Neptune and Posiden. I know the champagne has to be expensive and not cheap as the 'gods' don't appreciate cheap champagne. I read I have to pour half the champagne from East to West and then have the 'party' members drink the other half. :)

I have to do the metal tag with water soluble ink and drop that off the bow. I plan on doing the whole bit, including saying the correct words to give over the previous name and allow the new name to be recognized by the Gods. I understand that are continued 'ceremonies' for the wind gods, wave gods etc. for always having safe passage. I am not sure how far I am going to go with it all, but I am definitely going to do some parts of the ceremony of name change.

Namaste is a great name for it all too, as it means "The Divine Light in me sees the Divine Light in you and we are all One".

So..... who all is in Stuart Florida for a name change party this coming week?

Can I take the name off the transom and leave it off while taking her to get hauled out in Rivera Beach on Thursday? I will be having her new name painted on at haul out.

Here she is. I am going to have her painted. The solid rail is going to be painted a dark blue, to give her more depth. I am excited and nervous at the same time, as I don't know anything about motor yachts. But I am going to learn needless to say. I am at her every day cleaning her up. Tomorrow I have a fuel company coming and cleaning the fuel and tanks. I had her bottom cleaned 2 days ago by a diver, the diesel mechanic is doing a complete service before I move her too. So.... I believe I have everything in order so she can go to the yard on Thursday.
