Doesn't seem faster to me,...in fact MUCH slower to go onto next pages of discussions?

And I need to change my 'favorites' connection as it seems to take me to a different portion of the website each time I log onto??

Could it be your network or ISP? What about other websites? Are they loading slowly as well?

You will need to re-bookmark (word?) your favorites. The URL strings are different with XenForo.

Sorry for the frustration Brian. The migration wasn't without some pain (for all of us).

I've been noticing threads disappearing from the new posts page. I hit on one the other day regarding windows on a Carver. When I went to pick up some YF links that addressed the issue and came back, the thread was gone. Just now there was a thread asking about the stability of a SF at anchor. I responded and then went to pull up a link to a related thread that I was going to edit into the post, but the thread and my post were gone when I returned.

    Hi Ed,

After clicking the "New Post" link on the navbar, click "Recent Posts" (upper right corner of the search results page) and that will bring up ALL threads and posts. XenForo is geared toward frequent forum visits, removing the last post or thread you made from the search results, until someone has responded to your last post or thread. The idea is to save you time from scanning down a list of threads y0u've already posted in.

    Hi,

I have been away for a while, but love the new site.
Maybe I have been sleeping but has there been any size changes in uploading pictures?

Same pic guidelines, but we've been a little more slack on image sizes as screens have become larger and offshore bandwidth has become more competitive. In the early years, it was important to keep images under 640 pixels to prevent side-scrolling on laptops and keep bandwidth usage minimized for the numerous members and readers who were accessing YF while cruising offshore.

There you go. Thanks. Sort of like when my wife rearranges that kitchen. Need to re-orient myself. Like with my wife, I need to figure out the new system. Sure not trading YF nor my wife in. Everything looks good. Can't imagine how much work you go through with something like this, and how much knowledge you need to amass to get it done. Just want to let you know that it's appreciated.

Thanks Ed. Sometimes it's seriously challenging. The details are many and often over my head. A lot of time is spent searching for solutions. Being an admin was a full time job this year. Hoping to hang up that hat and get back to the business of boats.

Carl has previously posted (somewhere) his thoughts on the "like" system, and said he was going to remove it. He may have gotten to that item on his punchlist.

More tweeking may be needed. As I tried to make a post a moment ago I got this pop-up 3 times before I could successfully make the post.

I got the same message at 09:10 Eastern (some 3 minutes ago). I closed the browser tab, hit a bookmark for another site, which came up, went back to the bookmark for this site, got the message again. Closed the browser (Chrome), reopened it, and the site loaded.

Been battling server issues all morning. Couldn't come at a worse time. Expecting traffic at JF following the NBAA.

We have a problem with a stat program causing a MySQL restart each time it runs. The bandwidth message was prompted when we raised bandwidth limits to accommodate an unusually high level of bots hammering YF. We raised BW limits to 500 megs when it should have been 500 gigs, a simple mistake in the WHM. It immediate shut both sites down.

Sorry folks. Not outa the woods yet. Still working on this...

"Start program". "MySQL", "bots hammering YF", "megs", "gigs", WHM. You lost me at "We have a problem". lol. Hope you understand that when I point this stuff out it's just to inform, not to criticize. Once again let me express my admiration of your computer knowledge, and my thanks for your hard work.

Thanks Ed. I'm grateful you guys let me know when a problem exists. For the past 10 years we've been pretty stable but this year has tested the limits of my admin skills and patience. FWIW, "WHM" is an acro for Web Host Manager, a control panel not unlike a glass bridge that allows us to breaks things as needed. ;)

The sad thing is that the bigger it gets, the more successful it is, the better job you do promoting it and getting search placement, the more problems will be encountered.
