    Ocean has launched the new 64 Makaira which is very interesting.

    As for anyone wanting a demise of a good boat builder (good as above average) I cannot understand. For one I am not US, but I would like both Ocean and Bertram to be on top of the game in production sport-fishing.
    In the end the more quality boats there is around the better for the customer it is.

    Right now, putting a deposit on an Ocean is a better risk than putting a deposit on a Bertram.

    I am a POST owner, and I understand that all boats are a compromise of some sort. Weight/ speed, tank/ flexible flyer Interior room (beamy)/ efficient hull. What are the similarities/ differences of a post and ocean. Don't they share some history? Don't want to insult anyone, just looking for some knowledge.

    They share a lot of similarities in build and looks, mainly because they're from the same region. Just like most Carolina built SF share a lot in looks and hull design. Posts are built a little bit stronger possibly. I agree that every boat is a compromise and at a price point. You cannot expect a Merritt on a Post price. The Posts are typically beamy for their length like the 50'er. IMO both brands failed to keep up with the times in the late 90's and update looks, interior, and etc. like the other ones have ie. Viking/Hatteras etc. and I think that's what led to their lack of sales as of late. Both sat on their laurels a bit with hull design as well. Ocean seemed to design hulls to meet 30 knots, and then they just sat there and didn't move to the next step. Posts as well and never seemed to dry up the ride. Finish work tended to be a little nicer on the Posts I think, maybe not. The exterior of the ocean had nicer touches with varnished toe rails, trim, and a teak cockpit. Since the mid 1980's Posts never saw the success in numbers that Ocean did until the late 1990's.
