If only that were true. I believe the IACS requirements only call for individual EGT on engines of 500kW per cylinder and above.
Yes, I stand corrected, I was wearing my Naval Vessel Rules hat. I have found that in the commercial industry EGT monitoring of individual cylinders is more common below those cylinder outputs even though not required by classification such as ABS Steel vessel Rules. This had not yet trickled down to become a standard in the large yacht community yet, although that may change and the option is available at the time of ordering your engine equipment, but can be difficult to add after the fact.
I guess that depends on what you call a large yacht. All of the yachts I have sailed on as Chief in the last 20 yrs have certainly had them on the main engines
Which engines were they? I have seen a mix in regards to CAT 3500 Series or MTU 4000 Series, some have them and some of them did not, I am talking mostly under 200'.
