Andromeda La Dea is one of my favorite sailing yachts afloat! Her lines, color scheme, proportions, and style are what I think embody a gorgeous sailing yacht. And judging from the places Tom Perkins took her such as the Arctic, Antarctic and around the world(the first Perini to do so) she sounds like an excellent exploration yacht too.

Here are some photos and her specs Andromeda la Dea | PERINI NAVI

And for some reason I just cannot get enough of this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGIADsUUKdg

I often wonder if her speed for racing could be improved with a new sail plan made from the latest high tech strong yet light weight materials or is her hull speed holding her back from being more competitive?

I agree with you Disco, she is a favorite. We met them at the island of Bornholm in the Baltic in 1991, when we had picked up the Moonen 85, Moonshadow, in the Netherlands and had a night stop there. Later I met with them again in Stockholm and was invited to see the yacht. In those days, the silver superstructure was very unusual and I really liked her.

About her speed, I think the hull is more designed for beauty than go fast.

Yes, I know what you mean, the silver superstructure looks stunning on one of my favorite motor yachts too CMN YACHT PHOTO GALLERY

I also think you are on the right track regarding her speed! The expression that pops into my mind is "built for comfort, not for speed!" which as it turns out was immortalized by the song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-PfkXkbBTTQ

In any case although Andromeda's speed might not reach warp, her color combination sure does make her look fast and gives me the feeling that she is fast and sexy which in my mind is just as good if not better!!

I couldn't agree more, this is a beautiful boat. Right now she is for sale for 1,950,000 Euros: https://abyacht.com/yachts-for-sale/perini-navi-47-m/

Seems like some sort of fire sale. Does anyone know the story? Owner bankruptcy? Did she lose an argument with a container ship? What's going on? Should we pass the hat and chip in to pick her up on the cheap?
