    1. Shadow yacht Bartender showed a great "craddle" for her special "tenders". Those Dutch guys have a great sense of humour.

    2. 43 Meter Baglietto Why Worry. Actually there are 3 yachts with this name in Port Adriano at the moment. There is also a Maiora 39 DP and sail boat with this name in the harbour.

    3. ISA Classic 41 Meter AZIZA came into the harbour. One backtrack, steady into the slot, stopped and got tied to the pier. No fender exploded and no use of bow- or sternthruster. Good show from the skipper and its crew. The crowd was impressed not only from this maneuver but from the bikini girl on the flybridge :).

    Todays catch

Sorry for being slow with pictures at the moment but we are doing some training for the upcomming (sail) race in the bay of Palma. Todays pictures were made on the way home from Palma.

    1. A decent looking princess 82 FB. The paint sheme serves the yacht very nice. But the crew quarters ????

    2. The other Why worry, Maiora 39 DP.

    3. Detail shot of RoMa. I am still thinking about her stern design.

    4. Vintage Feadship. Could not read her name but type was shown as Feadship Catalina Riva. About 20 Meters long, 50 years old and looking great. That would be nice toy for our member David Japp.

Best looking vessel of that whole group...in my opinion

    1. 2012 Triniti 164 ft Lady Sura. What do you think about her design?

    2. Nice model of the Mangusta 165 at the dealers office.

    3. How about this beauty, a (charter) yacht with canoe stern, called Semaya. Greek design, 1968 build yacht by Navetta yards and refitted in 2010 intensively. The main emphasys was definitely not on external design :p.

Looks like the gangway can only be used when the stern platform is deployed? That is what I call an unfunctional design!

In regards to "Lady Sura", she is not ugly but also not the best looking boat in her class. Thanks again for those photos.

It does not need to be deployed. Looks more like an optical illusion.

    RoMa stern design

In order to close the stern platform, they have to retract the gangway, close the gangway door, close the center stern entry door, close the aft platform and then open the gangway door again and extend the gangway. I watched them doing that. But the gangway can be deployed without opening the stern platform but then the platform is blocked.

More pictures of the Port of Palma from today

Today, I have had the time to take the gig for one more tour through the harbour of Palma for some updates and more pictures. We could not go out for more training, because the boat is under a little repair. We had a lightning strike under sail a few days ago. One VHF / AIS antenna smoked away but we were very lucky, the lightning conductor and antenna isolator worked, no electronics or machinery went "TU". A new antenna, removing of some welding traces and recalibrating and compensation of the compass system and we are back out at sea.

    1. This is my neck of the woods in the Palma harbour, where the bigger sailboats are located. Not the very big ones, just the bigger once :p.

    2. 2013 Vitters 133 ft Sloop Ganesha backing into her slot. I hope their work in progress does not mean even more tuning. That beast is already fast enough.

    3. JFA / Vripack yachts Bystander, 42,18 Meter Escort yacht for J-Class yacht Velsheda. Beautifull looking boat.

    4. One more picture of Ilona with her "mouth" (tender bay) wide open.

    1. Did this nice looking Moonen boat named NILO once belonged to our member Nilo or is it just pure coincidence :D.

    2. Yacht Amor Azur II, a 1994 Palmer Johnson 149 ft. Well kept yacht.

    3. Again the 2003 Delta Marine Andrea, 126 ft. She must have had a recent clean up. Her hull was glossy like a mirror.

Bystander is a favourite of mine, lovely looking boat.

I got hit by lightening when cruising from Antibes down to Sardinia. Off the coast of Corsica, on a pretty wild and windy night, we got thumped by a bolt.

It was a Tecnomar 68 motorcruiser, quite old. The charterplotter was one of those ancient green CRT screen units. As the lightening hit, the unit's face burnt an image of the Corsican coast onto it's screen, blew the A/C pump and ruined the autopilot. That was a fun week in Porto Cervo trying to fix that little lot in August.

    One more

    1. The semi displacement Jongert motor yacht from a closer different view. One day, I will be arrested by the harbour security for comming to close to other boats :D

    2. Vitters yacht Aglia. I will stay away from her after last years experience. Pretty big vessel, if you compare her with the cars in front. Behind her Event.

    3. Amels 199 Event, actually 200 ft long, radical and extravagant design.

    4. 2004 Amels yacht Volpini, 162 ft. Well proportioned boat.

    Now a big boy

Mark Cubans 288 ft Feadship Fountainhead. Good looking boat but must have had a longer journey. Needs some cleaning and polishing.

    An even bigger one

Not really a yacht but it floats, ergo it gets pictured. Cruise ship Serenade of the Seas. But this monster displaces far to much fine Med water.

Pacific has relocated to the other side for refueling and refurbishing. The beautifull yacht speakes for herself. If you look at her hatches, windows and doors in the hull, you can tell, that most Luerssen 280 ft class yachts have an almost identicall internal setup below the main deck.

    1. Pirate attack on the port of Palma. The Navy has been called on alert :p.

    2. Final touch up on Twizzle. I like her very complex aft platform. This vessel needs a new owner. The current one does not want her anymore.

    3. I found a nice use for one of those not really seaworthy boats. Put her on a beach as some kind of shopping stand. As you can see, the engine, or at least half of it, has to be removed. I am afraid, the (useless) Northern 90 is to big for that purpose.

The retiree did a little tour at Port Adriano today. The season has not really started and this the first week with really nice weather.

First picture, a Riva 88 Florida. This boat looks much bigger in reality than on pictures. Wonder wheather this roof mechanism abbove the cockpit really works as flawless as advertised. But as most Rivas, a very well designed boat.

    IMG_0012.JPG

Second picture, the 2014, 47 meter Benetti Anastasia K with a very strange type of paint (at least for a large yacht)

    IMG_0013.JPG

    A glittering silver metallic !!!!

Third picture, the 2007, 70 Meter Luerssen yacht St. Nicolas. 10 years old and in great shape. Quality seems to pay off.

    IMG_0015.JPG

Picture Nr. four, the 2004 Feadship Utopia waiting for the charter season 2017 to start

    IMG_0016.JPG

Last one for today, a picture from the other side of the Harbour out of my favorite place at Port Adriano, the "Sansibar"

From left to right 1. RoMa, 2. St. Nicolas, 3. Utopia, 4. High Power III

Port Adriano seems to be the home harbour of High Powwer III. The Ship is seperately fenced off within the secured outer pier of Port Adriano.

    IMG_0018.JPG

The retiree will continiue to post more pictures from floating devices here in Mallorca unable to hide away from the lens of my camera.

Today a little tour in the neighborhood. Porto Portals in the S/W of Palma

First picture a very nice example of the Pershing yacht line, the Pershing 82. This "bullet" is capable of doing 50 Kts full throttle with her 2 x 16 V 2000 M96 L and 42 Kts cruise. A beauty and a beast.

    IMG_0005.JPG

Many Sunseekers (new und used ones of all sizes) in the harbour, much more than usual. Last week we had the Palma Superyacht Show. They were most likely gethered for the Show by Sunseeker Mallorca and some brokers. Below two of those beauties :).

    IMG_0004.JPG

    IMG_0009.JPG

The second boat is the 2007, 44 meter Benetti Blue Vision. The yacht is for charter.

    IMG_0007.JPG

    IMG_0013.JPG

She was on full scale preparation for the charter season. Crew plus external assets working hard. Half of the yachts in the 50 to 100 ft range had a For Sale sign on the stern. But this is normal in Porto Portals

Boat Nr. 5 is the 2007, 29 Meter Moonen Grace. A great quality and beefy semi displacement boat, capable of 22 Kts and with descent range at 12 Kts. On the market too.

    IMG_0011.JPG

Last one, the 1999, 47,5 Meter Feadship Princess Too. Also a yacht for charter

    IMG_0014.JPG
