I have a 1995 Carver 355. The pipe is grey and about o/s 5/8" diameter. I want to extend the system to the swim platform. Anybody know where I can purchase pipe and fittings?
This thread has been moved to the Carver forum. Please post to your brand-specific forum in the future.
You can get most of what you need at Home Depot or any hardware store. The transom shower (assuming that's what you want) can be gotten through West Marine.
if its like mine its pex pipe... whenevere i replace it i use barbed fittings and tube type water line you can get at lowes.. and cut the exact length so there are no other fittings... only where the connections are made.. and double clamp everything. In my area you can no longer get the grey pipe...
The grey pipe was either Brass craft or Quest system. The blue Pex will work as will the sharkbite fittings with it, both can be found at Home Depot. The Brass fittings tend to be better than most of the pushlocks.....
I did that on my 355. Ran a short run of pipe to the pipe feeding the master sink. Worked out great. Easy install.
thank you Thank you one and all. I have tried all the hardware stores and Home Depot plus hours on the net searching. So far no luck will keep looking.
Hi, Does this look like the stuff you are looking for? PEX Information If so it is available here as indicated by a post above http://www.lowes.com/Plumbing/Pipe-Fittings/PEX-Pipe-Fittings/_/N-1z10xvu/pl#!
Both Home Depot and Lowe's sell it in just about every store. Home Depot has a better selection generally and better quality (sharkbite or gatorbite) fittings than Lowe's. Retards, I mean home builders in the U.S. are even plumbing new houses out of the stuff from what I hear.....
Sorry Mother Goose....just have to ask.....are you the same "Mother Goose" from my Harley forum, where you just passed your bike test? (I'm RichardS on my site, the co-founder. I don't think it's appropriate to name the forum, since that could be viewed as promoting it.....if it's you, you'll know which one it is right away) Just wanted to see if it WAS you, and we have another interest in common! Anyway, welcome to this forum, great people and a wealth of info from generous folks ready to help!
I don't think you can buy that pipe and system anymore -- I have the same, crimped elbows. However, the new push-on fittings available at your marine parts supplier will do just fine. The new pvc marine plumbing pipe mates with these fittings as well. I just repaired a length of plumbing using these parts. Do not confuse these imperial fittings with the metric fittings made by Whale. You can convert to Whale but you'll need an adapter coupling to switch from imperial measure to metric. Everything after the coupling will have to be Whale including your shower head at the platform. I have also tried SharkBite available at Home Depot. In one application it worked, in the other, it leaked. I would stick with the marine parts.
