I've been in contact and they do have the boat and are/were on it. A non boating issue came up and cruising plans were put on hold. Not sure of their status at the moment.

That's unfortunate, The lady had previously said there had been some type of health issues so I sincerely hope this has not returned to thwart their plans.

    place to start

Oh I agree that hands on is the best method...I wasn't saying otherwise but for someone who is not sure how to even tie a knot that place would be a good start. Follow that up with 500 hours of hands on experience then the license is attainable.

Good luck and ENJOY. My wife and I are planning to do the same thing for our retirement and the way I see it, everyone had to start somewhere.

    Hi,

If you had read the whole thread you might have seen where this persons plans have suffered some type of unfortunate setback and does not seem to have achieved the original target.

Hello, just to report back in. I just received my 6 pack captains license and love helping my husband (who also got his 6 pack). We have spent a year getting to know the boat and also learning to be able to manage on our own. He does most of the driving and I am a good first mate for him. What an awesome adventure we've already had and we are taking off in May up the east coast.

It's is possible to gain new passions and learn. Respect for those who know this inside and out. Your experience, I've learned, is so important to learn from.

    Well done Lili!
Not many owners go to the trouble of getting any qualification, least of all their co-owners!
Hats off to you. Wish you Safe seas and many adventures ahead.
    Cheers,
    Kafue

Ditto, well done Lili. Hopefully all the non-boating issues got resolved to your favor.

Fair winds, following seas and lots of sunshine.

I tore my acl meniscus and Pcl.

Worse part is did it on stepping onto the dock from our slip in naples. When you don't fully understand floating dock vs fixed dock and tides, etc it can be really dangerous ha!

I had just been gone for 30 minutes and the tides changed and what I remembered the height of the dock being in my memory had changed by a few feet. Needless to say I stepped and it tore. No one around and my phone fell so far from me I couldn't call anyone. So it took a while to get help.

I learned so much about patience, being cautious and intentional with everything I do on the boat.

    Thanks for your comments.
