Anytime you pass Ruby's boat, you need sunglasses! Even on a cloudy day....

Lou, it was sprayed with Imron, and I do have a formula that is a perfect match on my boat. If any of you guys need it I can forward the Imron formula

I am preparing to prep, prime and tip and roll my deckhouse. I want to "debrow" as well for a cleaner look. I want to remove the teak brow and the half rounds above my salon windows. However, when I took a closer look at these teak components Bung plugs were not readily apparent. So how did you guys locate the screws? Are they indeed "bunged"?

About the paint. As someone else has posted elsewhere, Post recommends Interlux to match the gelcoat topsides:

    Interlux Exterior Gloss White #87
    Interlux Ivory # 224
8oz of Ivory is mixed into each gallon of white.

I am using Interlux Brightside for the white. It s a hard, durable high gloss one part enamel. The Interlux Ivory #224 has been discontinued however. I called the makers of Interlux (tel:800-468-7589) and learned that the recommended replacement is EBS-Hat Off White part number Y4208 (quart). West Marine had the Brightside and the Y4208, but you may save a few bucks getting it from an Interlux distributor?

After prepping I am going to prime with Interlux Precote White.

    So,
    1) Where are the screws for the brow/cabin side half rounds and
    2) Does anyone have experience using the Y4208 replacement product and how was the match? (BTW the Y4208 is better know to us as the Hatteras off white).

I did this exact job last spring. There are bungs, you just have to find them and pop them off with a screw driver or knife.

Hatt off white is the interlux color i used, but i used their perfection 2 part paint. I'd recommend if you go through the amount of work that you are about to go through, to go with 2 part. It is a harder more durable paint and will last much longer.

It is a pretty close match to the hull.

    ST that looks fantastic!
I completed the aft deckhouse using the one part enamel and it looks ok. However, you are right that the two part Perfection would be better because it lasts much longer. So for the rest of the deckhouse, the sides and forward deckhouse I will go to the two part. I don't want to redo all that in a year.

What was the ratio of Hatt off white to white using the Perfection?

    --continued from last post---

I had not intended on painting the house sides other then the aft, but knew I wanted to de-brow. Today I removed the forward house half-round (using cheaters to see the bungs :)) and in fact there was an adhesive of some sort used to mount the teak in addition to the screws. Its a mess so I definitely need to paint. Tomorrow the half rounds above the salon widows and the corresponding section aft on the flybridge deck are coming off. I intend to use the two part product for the fore and side deck house. Again, too much to do annually, so I'm switching from the one part enamel to the Perfection.

I just want to make sure I get the ratio for mixing correct. For the one part Brightside it was 8 oz to a gallon or 6% Hatt off white. I'm wondering if the Two part is the same?

Thanks, I didn't mix the paints. I just used straight hatt off white. I took the paint card and compared it to the hull sides before choosing the color. It's tough to say if its a direct match to the hull now, because my deck is painted in a brighter white, breaking it up, but its close enough for me. This Spring I'll be painting the deck in hatt off white and will truly know at that point if it's a direct match. If not, well, the hull will be the next paint project. If you do end up mixing, make sure you keep the mixture simple and write it down for future reference. got to the interlux website forum at yachtpaint.com, their tech reps were VERY helpful.
