I know the Derector's locations in Connecticut and New York are in some form of bankruptcy but I saw a marina in Dania Beach/Hollywood, Florida with the large Derector's name on a building with several very large yachts in slips. Are all locations in bankruptcy?
Derecktors Thanks for the reply. Sorry about the spelling. Should be "Derecktors" Admin Edit; corrected.
****************** reports: Following an extended period of inactivity that began in September 2011, Derecktor’s Bridgeport facility in Connecticut has filed for protection under Chapter 11 of US bankruptcy and reorganisation legislation. This means that Derecktor will retain ownership of the facility, but as a ‘debtor in possession’. The company conceded that a lack of new build contracts has magnified the financial strain placed on the Bridgeport operation by the construction and delivery of 85m Cakewalk, the largest yacht ever to be built in the US. However, the woes afflicting Bridgeport have not, according to the company, transferred to Derecktor’s New York or Florida facilities. The former, Robert E Derecktor Inc., which works on yachts at the smaller end of the spectrum, is in the midst of a busy winter of refit work. Personnel are also engaged in off-site millwork projects and the outfitting of Presto series sailboats. And Derecktor’s Florida facility in Dania Beach, which will be well known to the superyacht professionals, has reported strong figures, with year on year growth of 30 per cent for 2011. This has encouraged the company to undertake a major upgrade of its hauling and transfer capabilities and electrical infrastructure in 2012. 1/25/2012
Well it looks like this is the official end to the "Northern" facility http://www.thomasauction.com/auction-details.asp?id=278
Does not list the (almost) finished 150ft Frers sloop they had in build for ex Tyco CEO Koslowski, before he went to jail. She was stored and offered for sale since 2003 out of Bridgeport. Where did that project end up?
