I spotted this beauty today at Pier 66. "Sea Diamond" built in 1956 (a Very good year I may add...) by Abeking and Rasmussen. She sparkles.

The lines are a touch off for a Viking. Also it's easy to tell she's aluminum by the typical aluminum bow rail and pulpit.

My bad. It shows how the brain becomes conditioned, forming conclusions based on familiarity. It looked like it was in the Viking family...

    # 121, MY-CY Capt. Ned and wife ran her for years. Known for her Pepto bismol pink engines!

    # 143, Pyewacket. Seriously? :D The first mention of the name was in 1644, Essex, England. A familiar to a woman, name unknown, that witch Hunter Mathew Hunter accused of witchcraft. Hunter claimed he himself saw it, and four other familiars merting one night. There was no mention of other "spirits" involved but one wonders.
Pyewacket was an imp, not a cat.
The name was used for various supernatural entities down the centuries with the cat in the movie "Bell, Book, and Candle" 1958 being the most famous, now.

87' Broward Pyewacket is more well known up and down the Eastern seaboard for having the same captain and owner for 30 years + or so. Very rare indeed these days and a testament to the both of them. Old school Classic yachtsmen (owners) that hold onto one yacht for over a quarter century can be counted on one hand these days & Both of these mariners garner tons of respect for what they've accomplished with this yacht through the years.

I worked on a 97' MY steel with a canoe stern back in 2003, same owners still since 1987, same Captain since about 1995 who started out as a deckhand then. I know another Captain that started with the family in the late 70's and is still with the same family. So, they're out there.

Always have to admire boats that have well maintained woodwork.
