    I expected custom designed aluminium tenders, but it seems that the one on the photos is a standard tender? Perhaps electric?

    Will be a media circus when Venus arrives in Florida..there's quite some press coverage in Spain/Canary Islands, in the USA it will be 100 times more I think...
    (Tenerife is not a major superyacht location or port as far as I know)

    I wonder about some technical details, particularly the propulsion solution.
    The ship data mentions "2 x Rolls Royce 16 cylinders".
    That should means a type B32:40V16P with 8000 kW/ 10800 HP output.(the only RR /Bergen Marine engine with 16 cylinders)
    What about transmissions?
    Conventional? / electric?
    Curious to know whether Venus is as "hi-tec" inside as it it outside.

    Someone posted this link awhile back... but it sure looks like a small floating office building...

    And, the bamboo blinds look ratty already...

    I heard through the grapevine... it was intended as a floating office for Jobs.

    Some departures from normal... ???

    Perhaps a new take on flat bottom deep draft technology.

    Perhaps new station keeping / anti roll retracting technology with hydraulic jack pilings retracting into the bottom when not in use.

    Perhaps some new recyclable / amphibian technology allowing to be placed on a slab on land and have a second life as a small office building or sculpture at Apple's Headquarters. And, able to be raised on lowered on the jacks to simulate being in a sea of grass.

    Perhaps very deep draft for two stories of accommodations in the hull with a second band of under sea view underwater / lower story viewing windows.

    Perhaps one big hybrid... of some kind.

    I lived in the SF Bay Area for a quarter century, working for one of the big hi-tech companies there , and I drove by Apple's HQ on a daily basis...

    Also, I agee, I think (but clearly speculate!!) she probably carries an hybrid/electric propulsion solution.

    Here's why:
    Each of these RR diesels weights over 64 tons (that a whopping 128 tons total) , and considering the length of the vessel, I could only see these located somewhere amidship...hence requiring ultra long props shafts...
    And if she's an hybrid, then the batteries also constitute a heavy mass that has to be placed properly.
    Having flexibility in the placement of heavy components calls logically for an electrical solution.
    Thus, I speculate for an electrical transmission, giving a better flexibilty to the designers to position components and balance the whole thing, while avoiding undue stress to the structure.
    At least that's how the engineer-in-me wouldd have approached it ;)

    But frankly, I am really looking forward for the first "official" reports describing what's in there!

    I wonder how she lights up other than the lights underneath the railing cap and around the underneath perimeter of the aft deck overhangs.

    Wohouuu!!!! That´s a beach club like onland, not onboard! Reminds me of the one on A, similar huge door. I am not a fan of Venus, but I declare myself a fan of that beach club!

    Does one really need such large engines to be solar?

    Where are all the solar panels?

    She may be diesel-electric (think train - nothing new at all), afterall, she averaged 16 knots thusly on her maiden voyage.

    I'll go to bed tonight a little less stupid than this morning:rolleyes:

    Fortunately I knew already quite a few things about diesel electric traction!:D (in my pseudo "Eisenbahn" means "railroad" in German...which is a hint for which part of the industrial world I came from...;);) )

    I was not thinking "solar" either, but just like you, "Hybrid" as in "Toyota Prius", just much bigger :)

    Hybrid doesn't make a lot of sense to me since a big portion of the hybrid allure is regenerative braking. Hybrids are great "around town" but aren't much of an advantage on the highway.

    Don't really see Venus as a "grocery-getter", and regenerative braking on a boat/yacht isn't very effective.

    Should holes in her hull for such underwater light be visible on the casco?
    I don't see a bow thruster?

    Things like holes for lights wil not normally be cut by the sub contractor building the hull.
