Yes when they really get the deal done, they should have round about 2,000 employees plus thousands of sub constructors I think...
Lürssen also got just awarded for their archievments

  2. Lürssen offered to buy the insonvency P+S Yard for some € 20 millions, I've read.

...obviously not the 3 posts above yours!
BTW Lürssen wants to buy only the Penee Werft Shipyard not the yard in Stralsund.
(P+S are two shipyards located in North Germany)

Al Salamah was finally sold by Edminston. The yacht is now in Dubai. This document has very interesting information, but the pictures cann't be seen. Check the description of all the areas, floor by floor, towards the end of it, very impressive!

After 4 years (record so far) with the AIS signal turned off, Al Salamah has had it on since moved to Dubai. Unfortunately, turning the signal off is a growing trend among the middle-eastern owned megayachts, probably for security reasons.

Felipe were you not able to see the pictures in the link you provided? Or maybe they were just added? There is a full set of interior photos when I open the link. The interior is not what I expected a lot nicer IMO. I've always wondered what the interior of Al Salamah looked like

Ivanahoy, I couldn't see the pictures in my ipad (maybe an older version of adobe), but I did see them in my pc.

Al Salamah has always been one of the most secretive yachts in the world, but as we say in Spain: "there is no plague that lasts a thousand years".

The marina where Al Salamah was last registered, Ghantoot, is not in Dubai but in Abu Dhabi (very close to the non-existing border, being both part of the UAE). Looks like the new owner is from that area, which makes sense, because this yacht can only suit someone whos idea of a vacation íncludes 100 family & entourage and 100 crew (!). The guys in Abu Dhabi are catching up fast in the world of expensive toys, not only yachts, big planes too. Obviously, they tend to keep their yachts in places with a nicer coastline than they have, and where Iranian missiles cann´t reach their boats.

I know generally we do not talk about price drops but I thought we can make an exception talking about "Northern Star"'s 14million euro price drop!!
My goodness looks like the owners become eager... offers are literally encouraged.

Still overpriced. I remember Madsummer ( now TV) sold and was listed at $180 million. I've heard the sales price was closer to $100 million.

The interesting backstory is that there have been 7 price drops so far this week:

    Northern Star. $18.6M

    Sea Bowld $2.5M

    Mumu $660K

    Mistral 55 $1.4M

    Aurora $1.7M

    FX $200K

    More $1.8M

which is a trend that industry watchers are saying will continue in 2013.

    Can anyone say buyers market???

Note some amounts were converted and rounded.

3 more price reductions were announced today bringing this weeks grand total to a whopping 10!

    A record perhaps?

    Abbracci $350K

    Totally Nuts. $14.5M

    Sotaj $6.25M

Like my 6th grade math teacher used to say with a big grin on his face when handing back graded quizzes, "read'em and weep my boys, read'em and weep!"!"

The asking prices will continue to drop because there are very few buyers. It will take a while for buyers to come back, but the downturn serves a purpose also, like in any other industry. It will eliminate the weaker elements and come out stronger.

Not totally yacht-related but I thought it would be worth mentioning it!
Actually Saudi-Arabia is interested in patrol boats with a total value of 1.5 billion euros and the price per unit is ranging from 10 to 25 million euros.

Lürssen sent already an inquiry to the Federal Ministry of Economy, a special comittee has to agree.
I am curious whether "Al Salamah" was influencing for the order of these patrol boats?

Please do not discuss any politics here!
