Miami (CNN) -- A fire engulfed a yacht a mile off Miami Beach on Saturday, sending a thick column of black smoke into the clear blue sky before rescue crews were able to put it out, the Coast Guard said.

Three people were aboard the 80-foot yacht Bliss when it caught fire around 10 a.m., the Coast Guard said. They all jumped into the water and were rescued with no reported injuries.

Crew members from the Coast Guard Cutter Sitkinak were about to board the yacht as part of a routine inspection when the fire broke out, the Coast Guard said. Boat crews from the Coast Guard's Miami Beach station and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded and extinguished the fire.

It was not immediately known what started the fire.

The yacht was partially submerged Saturday afternoon and commercial salvage was being arranged to tow it back to shore, the Coast Guard said.

Curious timing for a fire (right before being boarded by the CG).

Have never seen the boat. But, I saw it on the news and it looks like it's a Ferretti judging by the hull.

Doesn't ring a bell down here either.

10am fire on Saturday? Feel bad for the Miami Dade fire boat crew who must have had to skip lunch out with the boat and the sandbar tour ogling girls afterward.

Lol. You hit the nail on the head!

She's sitting about 700' below the surface now, I wonder if they're going to raise her?

Supposedly it caught fire right before the Coast Guard was going to board it. Some Jewish lightening? If you look at the 3 guys that got off of the boat, they definately don't look yachtie by any means.......

I know the owner and the captain.
The owner has a saying 'There is allways some one that can do it better and cheaper".

    SEE what that cost??!;)

Boat lived in Fisher Island.. low key, very wealthy, Argentines.. Won't say much more, other than I was crossing to Cat that day it was 5-7 with a 8 foot swell..

Not a day you wanna be caught out and on fire.. and I saw the black smoke billowing up off of Gvt. Cut.. thought it was a tanker fire or something.. Glad everyone was safe :D

It was on the news on TV when it happened......I forget what station, but it showed them walking down a dock or something with their heads down.
