No worries Millow, I will be going to the show on Monday!!

If the Status Quo is having a yacht with your bird then I guess the status quo is quite all right with me!!

Big Zip is actually a small Trinity considering most are longer than her 142' of luxury.

I am going to hazard a guess and say that this sleek and elegant blue hulled beauty is an Azimut Grande 100.

Freedom isn't free but well worth the price to travel in this unique 108' Hargrave design, the first of its kind in the fleet to have a tender garage leaving a huge fly bridge where guest can spread out and luxuriate in the sun.

I think blue hulls really enhance the chic classic look of many yachts this one included!

    Opening day...need I say more!

Okay, I will. Many captains were instructed to drop anchor, not straight down but were floated out by divers to the north to help alleviate some of the strain on eht epilings and dock due to the very fresh winds. It could be an interesting night for yacht as well as the large tents. Right now, show folks tell me the show is open tomoorrow, 10:00 AM. Let's see.

Hi CaptTom, Looks like you might be nestled in, or should I say imbeded, at Bahia Mar?
If so you certainly have a ring side seat for all the action tonight and for the rest of the show.
I will check in first thing Friday morning to see what you have to report.

Nam yo ho reng gia ko, Nam yo ho reng gia ko, Nam yo ho reng gia ko!!!!!!!!

What a great report and images....sorry that the weather is not helping but here in south central Texas all of that rain would sure be welcome...

If weather permits, please keep the reports and images coming for us mere mortals who wistfully read these forums for our boating fixes...

    Cheers,

wagner, thanks for stepping up and letting us know you enjoy the coverage. Sometimes it's hard to guage if anyone follows/appreciates the thread.

Well, you may be able to control many things in life, but not Mother Nature. She has wreaked her havoc at FLIBS this evening, with more to come overnight. With the strong winds today, yachts were tossing around a bit, especially at the north end of the show, when the squalls came through. And the high winds kept everyone in the large tents looking towards the ceilings, watching the metals frames breath in and out, creaking ominously while slapping the tent skin against the frame with a regular cadence.
Sometime before 7:00 PM, one of the tent's walls gave in and ripped. Tents were evacuated and as of late tonight, we have the large tent compromised with gapping holes on either end of the structure. Another tent has had the walls blown in. And the wind continues to howl here.
Even if the show does open tomorrow, the tents will be off limits, certainly. And there is a good chance that we'll see more damage inthe morning. Understand that this is no one's fault, so don't look for blame. It happens, and that's why there is insurance. As long as no one is injured or worse, everything else can be replaced.
More to come tomorrow. The show must go on.

    THE SHOW GOES ON!

FLIBS will be opening today on schedule, although a few of the tents may be off limits while Show Management and team does repairs and vendors can check their wares.
We walked the docks this AM at 7 and despite the damage on land, yachts have come through the storm unscathed. It's still windy here, but nothing like yesterday and the showers should make way for clearing skies later today (hopefully).
Here's another view of the damage. Crews are scurrying this morning to clear debris and secure the grounds.

I'll be heading down to the show tonight. I'll try to get some pics posted ASAP from my drive down from the North.

If any YF members are still around, would love to have the opportunity to meet some of you as well.

    Take care, be safe!

Are you kidding CaptTom, this thread has over 4,000 views!!

Those shots of the tents were nothing short of award winning spectacular!

Having you on the front lines gives YF a real time perspective that no one else can beat!!! In this case a picture actually speaks many more than a thousand words!!!

Although it is still pretty much overcast when I was walking pooch a few minutes ago the sun was breaking through for a few seconds at a time. Today's radar picture is much better too, it seem like most of the storm has passed us even though the forecast for today is lousy.

So CaptTom, and others, keep those cards and letters coming!!!!!

    Hello all,
It's late Friday night and happy to see that foot traffic on the docks was better than many expected. Despite less-than-favorable weather reports, folks did show and dodged sporadic showers and toupee-loosening breezes to check out yachts and toys. The show management team along with impacted vendors secured, cleaned and reset all but one tent and displays. The tent with the most damage is reported to open tomorrow morning. Let's hope our fellow boaters and neighbors to the north of FL are prepared for Sandy.

The wind did blow last night and those yachts with their noses to the wind used every fender available to keep their tails off the docks

Anything and everything was used to weigh down stanchions

Despite the foul weather, the worst was expected to be over and the day dawned and the flags were raised

I would be remiss of I didn't share with you some of the boating beauties that adorn the docks.

These gals are already tall and accentuate their vertical fortitude with seemingly just as tall platform shoes

These boots are surely meant for walking

These fly girls aren't from an airline, but the eye-candy from Jetlev
