    I'm liking your LED tape lighting and have an application that calls for a similar setup. Care to share the manufacturer/model information for what was used?

    Here are the overhang lights in daytime. I still have cosmetic issues to tackle making the wiring disappear- that'll happen when I'm back in FL.
    I don't think I can give a link but if you Google
    "LED Waterproof Ribbon 16' Roll RGB - Color Changing"
    you may find a what I used or something suitable for your application.

    The upper deck lights are a different style- google
    "Media Highlighter PRO System HTP1506E, Multicolor LED Lighting 6x15"
    I like that controller but the other lights. The upper deck lights are in a plastic tube with plastic snap in mounting while the overhang sits flush with the surface and has small rubber mounting tabs. I used some white adhesive caulk under the overhang tape to insure the tape is not going anywhere.

    Deciding the location, mounting and wiring were not complex nor difficult with the proper tools and I had no helper.

    Does the controller have non-volatile memory? In other words, if I set the lights to an effect that I like and then turn off the power, will they use that same color/intensity the next time I turn them on?

    Over hang lights yes- not sure on the upper deck but pretty sure it also stays where you set it if the power goes off or you turn it off. The upper deck lights have evolving color mode going thru the rainbow in three speeds, a mode of zero light to full then to zero then changing color and doing that again in three speeds and the music mode where it pulses to music in different colors. You can therefor get any color any brightness by pausing the light at the color/brightness you desire. The over hang light has about 15 pre-chosen colors patterns and a "cash cab" mode of flashing/changing disco style but not to music. It also has a brightness control. I bought the upper deck lights a few years back at costco for $50 and the overhang lights complete with controller, mounting tabs, extra wire and the other small items for install and it was less than $200. You could easily spend 10, 20 or 50 times the amount on lights from the factory if you wished ...

    On the way up the coast in the spring we met this 58 Donzi and then by chance we met them again on the way down. Nice boat and super capt and crew.

    Post Sandy we put a new upper deck enclosure identical to the old one. We also replaced the upper deck front spinning table with a varnished teak top- again triangular shape. Pics coming soon. We are now hauled out at Seminole Marine in North Palm Beach- new bottom paint and prop-speed, replacing the plates above the struts, steering work so we drop the rudders and replace the upper and lower bearings, fix a minor airbox leak and other small issues which need attention. I spent Jan and Feb working on making the engine room tidy, neat and clean.
    She's listed overseas FS, and also here stateside. The next owner will appreciate the constant attention to details and systems work I've done over the last 8 years. I think at the price of $375K she should sell quickly.

    New custom upper deck table and enclosure...
    This drydock has us doing extensive steering/rudder work, new bottom paint and prop speed, replacing the plates above the struts and other misc items. My job immediately prior to working on the Sea Deuce was at the Viking Service Center in Riviera Beach, FL as a yard capt and mechanic (three years there) and that certainly helped me in understanding what and how to properly maintain this vessel. We've never failed to fix anything which needed attention and by being proactive the boat has never been in better shape.

    Getting done with the dry dock. Fresh cukote bottom paint with new prop speed on the props and shafts. Hard paint on the rear struts, nuts, rudders and trim tabs. She ran very smooth with the new upper and lower rudder bearings. Newly serviced fireboy cylinder in the engine room. Forgot to re-attach the wires for the engine shutdown and so when I was in the well spent some time wondering why my mains would not start...:eek: Connect the wire and they fire up on the second revolution. Back at Sailfish Marina and ready to tie up a few loose ends before the next adventure, where ever that may be.

    I just finished sanding the bow rail down to bare wood, one coat of stain, two coats of Pettit sealer and then six coats of Pettit high build varnish. After that I put three coats of Pettit Ultra clear varnish; I was told by three different varnish professionals that the stain/sealer was the way to go and then use a high build, finish it off with a "harder" varnish. In the Florida summer you can't put more than two coats on each week otherwise it crinkles/gator skins. I had to replace the blue tape every ten days- if you don't then you'll be stuck cleaning tape residue- and that is not fun. Ending up looking great! I still have to caulk it, and I'd like to repaint awlgrip between the stainless rubrail and the toe rail. I just "barnacle buster"ed the a/c systems and a few weeks back drained/flushed and replaced the ME coolant on both engines. Replaced the coolant hoses with new at the time as well.

    It depends on the varnish. Usually the crinkling/gator skin is from having your coats too thick( in mils, not viscosity) or a combination of that and too much humidity (probably the case you're facing in the summer). It's been a while since I've varnished, but I was always able to put on 1 coat a day, providing it doesn't rain. I used to like to put 2 coats a day of Interlux jet speed for the first 8 coats (they stopped selling it a few years back), it was dry to touch in 3-4 hours so you didn't have to worry about rain so much, then finish it off with 3 coats of schooner. I find varnishing 1 boat a year is soothing, any more than that is crazy.....hehehehe But it's coming along very nicely.

    So I just finished painting the one inch area between the varnished bow toe rail/cockpit teak and the stainless rub rail; all around the vessel. "Off white revisited". Next is to lay a bead of caulk next to the toe rail on both sides. Little by little she's looking better all the time. :D

    Looks great. I would have gone with the Bombay over Tangueray. Unlessit was Ten. Naah. Still take the bombay sapphire. Good choices though.
