In that video, it looks like the crew on the bumpers wait and pull them up in sync. Is that SOP on mega-yachts?

I was watching that maneuver on the webcam located on the top of Pier66 and was amazed at how precisely she made the 180 in her own length.

I was also suprised at how much bottom she churned up during the turn.

Well the crew are probably and more than likely aware of the webcams and people in the area.

This video indicates that "Seven Seas" is off on a TransAtlantic crossing. Assuming you could wrangle (and afford) a ride on it while she made the crossing it would be a hoot. I'm guessing just the crew required to make the crossing are on board so you might be left to your own devices. As long as the fridge and wine rack is full I would be OK with that.:D

I more than likely posted that same video here before. I looked at some other video this morning by a person who was dining while the said yacht was next to him at the same pier. He commented to the effect of "For a person who owns such a yacht it is a poor design for all of that money." I do not understand how he could say that, does he have the money to build something that size? More than likely not. Keep those comments to yourself.

It appears as though Seven Seas has a crows nest. This picture of her at the dock shows a ladder going up the rear of the tower. If in fact she does have this feature, it must be quite a view from what I imagine might be around 60 feet in the air. I'm not sure I would want to be up there while underway.

Looking at some other images I can't really see much room up there for site-seeing... the ladder could just be for equipment access and maintenance.

As far as I know, there is nothing up there in the form of a crow's nest. As Kevin said, that is exactly what the ladder on the aft side of the mast is for. For the crew or who ever to have access to the nav and com equipment up there to clean or service.

I think you're both probably right. At best, it looks like only person could stand up where I thought it would be.

    Cake walk and 7 Seas

Just got back from a 12 day trip on are boat and watched 7 Seas and Cake walk hanging out together. They both anchored out together at a couple different spots. Both are amazing to see on the hook and so many tenders

Yeah, saw them on portevergladeswebcam yesterday. As shown on the AIS posted by Old Phart they are both in Fort Lauderdale right now, Seven Seas is docked at Pier Sixty-six and Calkwalk is docked South of the 17th St Causeway Bridge at Sails Marina.

One Hand For Yourself and One For The Ship

I went down to Pier Sixty-Six today and took some shots of Seven Seas mast.

While there is easy access to the rear of the mast and there are grab rails on each level to hold on to there is no crows nest per say.

I chatted with one of the crew on the dock who confirmed that Seven Seas has no crows nest but said there is a nice flat area up there where you can stand.

Imagine my suprise when I saw that not only is there a nice flat area up there for you to stand on but that there are also what looks to be some very nice oak chairs lined up on either side of the mast to sit on and enjoy the view with your mates.

As Carelm points out "it must be quite a view"!!!
