After the recent 100ft. classic RPH in the previous thread, I wanted some speed.
This is an 85ft. Sports Fly with a twin MTU / gas turbine combo connected to Arneson surface drives.

Very slick looking, but personally I'm not a fan of swoopy windows, though in this case they go well with the lines of the hull.

    Great looking yacht!!!

The yacht with the red hull looks a bit like the new montecarlo yacht series.

    Mike,
I agree with Kevin on the aesthetics view.
More importantly, having owned more used vessels than new, I have a strong opinion that all of these wonderful port lights and oversized portholes in the master cabins, galleys and staterooms are going to be NIGHTMARE maintenance issues for future owners over the years to come.
Just look at the number of openings new designs give to water ingress and seepage!
For every wonderful concept drawn and then built, what is the life expectancy on a practical side?
Let’s be honest with a design, not just the beauty and initial impact, what of the longevity when you imagine that under ALL circumstances the vessel faces a HARSH sea water environment. How will the technology face up to your wonderful “picture” window designs?
I say this not just for your designs, but the MANY that are now on the marinas! Give these vessels a few years of rough water, small swells or even just regular wash downs and imagine the metres, not centimetres of openings allowed for leaks etc. Look at almost ALL of the latest offerings from Europe, Asia and USA and there are large areas cut into new technology material hulls mainly to get sales at boat shows, NOT for the practical issue of maintenance or safety.
I see this as a big issue for the future.
Especially with a largely “ignorant” buying public. By that I do not mean to be offensive, just that the buyers are not experienced in what salt water can and will do to these wonderful cabins their wives or emotions want them to buy!

Kafue, I agree on the maintenance issues. As you can see on the concept above, I kept the number of portholes down to a minimum but not due to the maintenance issues but for pure aesthetical reasons.

If fewer openings in the hull side are better, I guess this concept is great ;)

Judging from the comments my Sail boats receive, I take it this is not a sailing crowd ;)

This is the same 85ft. concept posted in the end of the previous thread but with yet another stern and deck structure.

I hope you guys don’t mind me posting old concepts but I think each concept might appear slightly different when in some new company.

The first image illustrates some of my old concepts in the 80-85m segment together for the first time...

really great work. I'm a CGI artist mainly doing interior scenes for property but have decided to get involved with yacht interiors as I have a friend who deals with marine comms.

Would anyone have any plans with dimensions that may help in my quest :)

    Regards,

    George

    Time,

Here is a "smaller" 85ft. Dyna Rig concept based on the “Black Pearl” hull in the previous thread.

    Cheers!

Explorer time. This time I went for a concept with some attitude.

On the civilian version the large curved window facing aft stretches over two levels to create that ski lodge feeling with a window stretching from the floor all the way up to the ceiling. Of course with a large fire place in the back. A place to kick back after returning from the heli skiing with an unsurpassed view of the scenery. Auroras are of course best viewed from the large Hot tub on the observation deck.
The large deck area aft allows for a multitude of toys, should it be that 50ft. turbine cat, sea plane, sub, day sailor or just two electric scooters, and yes, she comes with a hangar.

If you happen to work for the Coast Guard, you can have her in white with some striping.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas, and a happy New Year!

I have to agree, I'm not a fan of those 'swoopy windows' either , BUT she is a nice looking design.

Mike, you do some great stuff. Too bad the market for new builds is in such poor shape right now.
  18. Happy New Year, New Really Yacht Designs and Success

    @ Mike Kajan,

well, your work is impressive, we all know, I will not repeat again for sure. Loved the Fireworks in the last view. You can do all styles shapes. For sure I still look YF to see your tremendous work, mainly design, the unique part i love here, and you're the last who does regularly something. And to see real news, that are rare lately, even in terms of designs outlooking outside there.

Let's christen all your visions and mainly the last 200m cruise ship one.

    Hi Ombreetsoleil,

I’m using Macromedia FreeHand, it’s a two-dimensional vector graphics program.

The sales of Champaign have reached all time high the past weeks here in Sweden, not sure if the negative trend is changing or if the beverage is needed to soften the blow.

Working with indexes such as the Dow and S&P it could be interesting to introduce a “Champaign index” to see if it correlates to boat sales :)
