Ferretti Group’s series of lobster boats/express cruisers are the Mochi Dolphins. First introduced as the initial 52-foot Mochi Dolphin design, in 2003, the Mochi Dolphins are the brainchild of Norberto Ferretti and Ferretti Group’s designer, Brunello Acampura, with naval architect Andrea Frabetti. An old-style revolution; Mochi Craft reinterprets the old lobster boat style with modernized, super-sized versions of the traditional down-Easter. The rounded shapes of the Mochi rediscover the natural lines of the Fifties with a playful and modern touch. When they were originally conceived, there was a sincere desire to rediscover the feeling of the sea and to experience the special mood of an era long past. The Mochi’s are nostalgic, but thoroughly modern yachts.
Ferretti Group acquired the historic Italian brand Mochi Craft in November 2001. In April 2003 Mochi Craft’s return was officially announced during a press conference, with the transformation of production into a niche lobster boat, and the introduction of plans for the first Mochi Craft boat: the 51’Dolphin. Currently, three sizes are offered ranging from the 44’ Dolphin, the 51 Dolphin and the 74’ Maxi Dolphin.
