I had posted on another thread that I was looking for a YF-er near the location of a boat in a specific area. I received an email from a YF member with whom I had never had contact. The boat is in a small town and the client was buying a cross-country plane ticket to check out the boat. I thought it would be great if someone (obviously I wasn't able) could eyeball the boat to make sure the broker had accurately described her and the pictures weren't photoshopped - excuse my paranoia.

So the YF Do-gooder sent me a PM and we made arrangements for his inspection. This is a private boat owner, not someone in the maritime industry, who made the time in his schedule for the 20 minute trip to the marina. He spent quite bit of time onboard and then spent more time giving a detailed report with his observations and hitting all the right points.

I'm making this post, for one because it is always disappointing when someone makes a post and then we never hear "the rest of the story" and secondly as a public shout-out and thank you to my unnamed volunteer YF Do-gooder. And lastly, as a thank you to YF and to all of you who make the yachting world a better and friendlier place.

Who ever helped out Judy, please email me your shirt size and a mailing address. A YF shirt is on the way. :)

Thank you again for the kid who help Judy. We understand it was a heck of a report. Knowledgeable assistance was super. Kudos to you our (phantom) friend.

This boat now has happy new owners. Clients insist on sending a thank you to our YF friend. For the old expression "No good deed goes unpunished" - it's not applicable to YF.

    Thanks again, my new friend.

Are the new owners YF members yet?
Would enjoy to hear from them enjoying their new ship and new adventures.

Good point, Ralph. They are making arrangements to have the boat trucked from NJ to upstate NY where they have a Sumner home. Maybe they can give us a first hand Great Lakes fishing report soon. Btw, these are clients who built a 65' steel trawler and cruised Newfoundland to Alaska and back. The Albin is their "after boat life" boat. Good for them!

Maybe a report on moving the new ship. Always an interesting topic.

They should run it there. It's not that far and a really beautiful trip.
