Latest reporting is that they had an ERIB but admit not activating it?

Based on what I saw of their press conference I suspect double digit IQ was a factor. Of course they were probably tired from "fighting off" those Tiger sharks.

Rig was still standing, No attempt at a jury rig sail , multiple forms of communication equipment onboard. Tahitian maritime authorities contacted them two months ago and asked if they were in distress and they said no? These gals more than likely were dreaming of a book deal or a movie deal.

The story has fallen completely apart now. It seemed untrue. It is. They probably already have the book mostly written. Who knows. They could take some lessons in playing the part such as not to be all clean and your hair perfect and look perfectly healthy when rescued and seem so unharmed on camera.

So, where have they been? In a boat drifting in the ocean?
I agree the story is wierd at best but; they were at sea for 5 month or they were at sea for 5 months?

You think somebody towed the boat out there and dropped 4 dawgs off.

They may have been at sea or may have taken a break along the way. Either way they had plenty of food and they had a watermaker and they were out there all that time by choice, not because they were desperately lost. Funny, they said they didn't signal for help because they never felt their lives were in danger and that they had less than a day. Then they said they were so happy to be rescued as they don't think they could have made it another day.

I'm thinking the dogs said they couldn't take it any longer.

The dookie just keeps getting deeper , Jennifer Appel (the blonde) according to the associated press has an occupation listing as an actress, business woman and adventure sport junkie. she says that she built the boat herself and the two of them survived five months on freeze dried oatmeal and pasta. Apparently they had Tiger sharks stalking them for a week learning their schedule and habits and when they attacked it was a concerted effort to sink the boat to get at their oatmeal stash.

U.S. Naval investigators interviewing Ms. Appel in Japan asked why she didn't use the satellite phone that they had aboard or deploy their EPIRB and her response was that she felt that those items were to be used as a last resort when lives were in danger. There goes her paid speaking engagement at the LaJolla Rotary club next month...

I saw a Youtube video that has excerpts of the women's interview via phone call.
It is a long video and sorts painful to listen to.
I think someone else hit it on the head, these two have video, written logs and data for a nice movie deal.

Sailing mystery, 2 Women + dogs rescued after 5 months at sea

This woman has 10 yrs sailing experience ?
Got to more than one island and felt the boat was too big to enter ?
Sailed for 24 hours ( 2 shifts ) before realizing the boat was going backwards ?

I believe they were out there, I just don't know how either of them made it through life in general to lead up to this point.

You ever notice dawgs have hot breath? Yes, that's hot air coming from 2 of them off that boat.
Shame they could not use it better to fill the sails.

With a name like mine, it does work well sometimes.
I had it below my signature to the bosses I previously worked for.
Carl's BS meter reminded of it and I had to throw it in here.
    Thx, rc
    ;)
