Kleven 116-meter Explorer Arrives For Completion At Kleven Yard

Remember the huge 107-meter explorer superyacht "Ulysses"? Sure you do but for those who can’t remember follow the link. Ulysses is on the verge of being completed for her owner, publicized as Greame Hart. While that’s good and dandy, we have another large explorer soon to be roaming the oceans of the world, the second explorer yacht signed by this same owner arrived at the Kleven shipyard to be completed. Of course it arrived in three large sections via barge. Once welded together, this 116-meter variant of Ulysses will be outfitted in time for her launch expected for mid-2016.

The 116-meter vessel will follow a similar design to Ulysses just slightly bigger but the mission remains the same. A utilitarian platform to launch expeditions from while enjoying the trappings of luxury; the best of both worlds. The design is actually based off the MT 5006 MKII ESV and fashioned by Marin Teknik. Features include a helipad, custom-designed cranes to service the large main tender stored on the bow –similar to her 107-meter sister-, additional tender storage, pool, and ample deck space. With an 18-meter beam, she is sure to impress.

The world will soon see two 100-plus-meter explorer superyachts that look rather similar to each other and not coincidentally owned by the same person. Initially Mr. Hart placed an order for Ulysses but coming on to the end of 2014, the New Zealand client placed another order for a slightly larger vessel of matching design philosophy. This is what we now know as the Kleven 116-meter and come July 2016 we can hopefully see this vessel much closer to completion and ready for delivery to her owner.
