  1. Amels Limited Edition 272 superyacht concept unveiled

Dutch yacht manufacturer Amels took the drapes off a new concept at the just concluded Monaco Yacht Show (MYS) last week. The new yacht now firmly stands at the top of the Limited Edition series of yachts. The superyacht bears distinct lines from the pen of Tim Heywood and not only is she the largest of the LE range she is also the biggest yacht conceptualized by Amels. Tim Heywood’s job was to keep the potentially bulky lines very smooth and streamlined making it almost hard to believe that this is actually an 83-meter superyacht. If the other models in the Limited Edition range didn’t attract clients by their features fast enough then the LE 272 is sure to fully elevate the interest of anyone.
  2. As with any of the models in the Limited Editions range, more attractions and features can be expected on the new LE 272. The features are endless and for example, the owner has their own deck entirely for their dedication. The owner has over 43-meters of space for themselves, 300 square meters of prime luxury space. Another almost must-have feature on a yacht of this size is the main pool which is located on the aft main deck. However, there is another pool on the forward end of the sun deck. Keeping the features rolling, there is a helipad on the fore deck with the ability to handle a helicopter with maximum take off of 3,000 kg.
  3. Tenders? The Amels LE 272 will have two main tenders of 11-meters LOA. Down on the lower deck there is a Beach Club in the aft-most section of the hull. The side-opening balcony and fold-down door in the transom provide great access to the sea as well as the open air. The Beach Club itself measures 87 square meters. The side terrace door and an aft door folds down flush into the large swimming platform, these features help to create the needed connection to the ocean well as external interaction.
  4. Senior designer at AMELS, Jaap van der Velde, says the extensive research and development that has gone into the AMELS 272 project is thanks to some excellent connections and relationships in the marine industry. “We are very fortunate that AMELS is part of the DAMEN Group, the largest shipbuilding group in Holland. This gives us access to state-of-the-art facilities and technology. We are also engaged in ongoing marine r&d projects through close partnerships with universities including the Technical University in Delft, MARIN and TNO. We have an incredible synergy with these excellent academic organisations and also with our co-makers and subcontractors. Working together with Azure Naval Architects and DAMEN research gives us great confidence in designing a large and complex yacht such as the AMELS 272.”
