  1. 182-meter Expedition, Research Superyacht By Espen Oeino
YF usually does not focus on yachts this size, we tend to cast our attention on smaller yachts that builders have a better chance of selling to a wider swath of the yachting public. However, once in a while when the opportunity presents itself we will look at insanely large superyachts. One example of this is this 181.6-meter expedition/research superyacht that has been ordered by a Norwegian billionaire. The design is by Espen Oeino and will be built between Norway and Romania. Ultimately, the VARD yard, a member of the Fincantieri will take the credit for the build.
  2. Not only is this yacht super large but come 2020, it is set to become the largest superyacht in the world taking the title from "Azzam" by a little less than 2-meters. Looking at the renderings the acronym 'REV' is painted on the sides which stands for Research Expedition Vessel. Although she is being built for Norwegian billionaire Kjell Inge Røkke and will be largely private she is going to be open to charters perhaps related to her research capabilities. Two helipads, one on the bow and one of the aft most main deck should make helicopter operations flexible and easy. There's room for a research submarine on the lower deck and the aft main deck will have enough space to store modules to aid in research missions. Although this vessel is being purpose built to be hands-on and utilitarian, she will be still a superyacht having many high-end interior features.. As many as 36 guests can be slept onboard along with 56 crew members. In research and exploration mode, she can handle 60 scientists and 40 crew. She will also take the title from "Dilbar" in terms of gross tonnage, coming in at around 16,000 GT. Top speed is envisioned to be 17-knots and have an astounding range of 21,120 nautical miles.
