Moving from fresh to salt water

    Ok Ive always been on Salt water boats...But if you get a boat thats always been in fresh water is it possible to put it in saltwater???

    Yes, I can´t see why you couldn´t? It may float a little higher, if it is a fast powerboat it may need a bigger prop. An inboard engine may need a freshwater cooling if it hasn´t and outboarders may need a flushvalve for freshwater. But basically boats are built for all kinds of water...:)

    Ok cool...because I plan on saving for a boat and possibly getting a 40' Chris Craft within a year and alot of them are in fresh water and notice the engines use fresh water cooling...but just wanted to make sure before i put it in salt water.

    No problems then, just check the zink anodes, paint with antifouling in the bottom and go!

    Also boats in freshwater typically have less metal/parts corrosion due to the lack of salt.
