In November 2015 I had the boat painted in S Fl. Also, had the running gear cleaned and painted with Pettit Prop Coat Barnacle Barrier. It held up surprising well I think better than propspeed and less money. The guy that painted the running gear used some type of strong cleaner to remove barnacles, etc Anyone know what that product may have been. It was not muriatic acid more like a gel. Its that time again.

No idea, I've never seen any yard use any gel. Was it blue? If so it could have been FSR but that stuff is pretty mild I think. All of the yards here just spray acid on it.

You can use gelled muriatic acid or hydrochloric acid to clean your stern gear. The hydrochloric acid is available in gel form. Try "Tek Gel" gelled acid.

    Capt J - Didn't notice any color.
TK - that could be it. I'm sure it would require the most aggressive one. May call them this week.
    Thanks guys.
