Would someone please explain CE Ratings as they relate to a boat's seaworthiness? I see Aicon and Uniesse, among others, touting their "A" rating, as opposed to Azimut's "B" rating, and implying that their boats can handle 22-foot seas versus Azimut's 12-foot seas. Are these ratings meaningful? reliable? worth paying attention to? Many thanks.

It all depends what you compare to. In Sweden we used to have safety rules that most manufacturers were building to before the CE-rules. They were much more into both safety and production quality and we experience the CE-rules as often land-based ideas, also restricting imports of used boats we have imported in the past with no problems.

But of course a CE class A boat is safer than a class B in certain situations. But it doesn´t mean that the quality is necessarily better.
