I'm looking for some advice. My boat (Lazzara 68) is getting some upgrades. I'm not sure when the work will be done, so we're looking for alternative boats for two different trips: 1. First, we'll be in Miami Beach area during the upcoming Columbus Day weekend, October 11 - 15. During this trip, we'd like to rent a nice powerboat for a day or two/three. We'd use the boat for a family (max 5 people, with 2 grandparents) day cruise up/down the ICW, and maybe I'd go out for a little fishing trip offshore. If possible, I'd like to find a decent boat in the 30' range that would meet this mission. I'm thinking a bareboat rental, not a crewed boat. 2. Second, we had planned a Bahamas trip on our Lazzara during the week of Thanksgiving. My wife and I had planned to spend the early part of the week in the Abacos, and we had arranged to meet our college age daughter at Atlantis on the Wednesday prior to Thanksgiving, where we would stay for a couple of days. We had planned to depart Nassau for south Florida on the weekend after Thanksgiving, at which point we'd all fly back to New England. Assuming our boat is not done, we'd like to find an alternative boat for this trip. I doubt there is any such thing as a bareboat charter for a boat anywhere comparable to our Lazzara, but if there was, I'd be interested. Absent a bareboat charter, we'd be interested in a crewed charter. Assuming a crewed charter, we'd probably prefer a larger (80? - 90?) late model flybridge motor yacht, but with a minimal crew. If anybody has any suggestions for either of these trip, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Good luck on finding anything available in October (Columbus Day weekend). You may still get a res before the end of the year. Good luck.
Columbus Day week end is going to be tight, as it starts tomorrow but November should be easy. Give this guy a call, he is broker in Miami and is pretty good. Of all the broker we work with he is the most serious: Dave MacDougall, sunshineboating.com
AS to part 2, check with Peter and Kim at Island Times Charters out of Nassau. Tell them Capt. Bill Foster said to call. They have a 90 footer that may fill your bill. The Yacht " Island time"
