I have a 2000 Bluewater Millennium 70 yacht. I am trying to reprop the boat. The previous owner in an effort to clean up the engines painted the spec plate on the transmission. I am trying to find out what the gear ratio is for this boat. If anyone knows or knows how to find that information it would be greatly appreciated.

Try wetting the plate with saliva and see if you can read it. If not scrape the paint off the plate, and see if you can read it. If not, mark the crank pulley and mark the shaft and bar the engine over and count how many times the engine turns per the shaft once.

Why can't you get the numbers off of the old props? Given how they performed, RPMs turned, and speed at WOT, that should be all the prop shop needs.
