The new lift at the Front Street Shipyard, Belfast, Maine is starting to arrive. The size of it is absolutely amazing. All of this couldn't happen to a nicer town. There are lovely restaurants, shops and an old fashioned movie theater all within blocks of the shipyard. There is already a pretty new harbor walk along the waterfront and there are events in the various town commons weekly. Love Belfast, Maine.

The local airport, (8 minutes from Front Street Shipyard is KBST with a 4000 foot runway and two GPS approaches for those with the 100-300 foot yachts to fly in and out while work is underway on their yacht!

This should settle the "is it a yacht question" ... if it needs to be hauled by the 450 ton bruiser lift, it might be a Yacht!

    I agree with Bert.

I was in Belfast over the weekend and visited the shipyard.

The pictures donot do the travel lift justice, it looks bigger in person.

The yard there is gaining a great reputation for high end quality work.

That's the kind of stuff that could have yachts missing their 30 day (use tax) grace period deadline, and once they do they may as well make it a home. Great jumping off place for cruising north. Cruising south has been done to death. For those tired of looking at shorelines filled with condos or who have had their fill of melanoma the NE offers some spactacular cruising grounds, and with global warming there are all sorts of possibilities for boats with good range. Smart move all around, and yes, a beautiful part of the world.

Oh and having the opportunity to have your work done by a downeaster? Nice.
