Much to my disliking, a potential new owner has enquired about adding a bathing platform to the stern of the Yacht I run. The stern is the rounded canoe type stern which looks gorgeous but is perhaps not the most practical shape to have.
My concerns are while under way, the yacht has a slight squat while at cruising speed which reduces the air draft of the transom by some 40%.
Ideally I would like to see a hydraulic platform that folds down from the transom, so that when folded away shows no sign of being there. HOWEVER in reality costs will require a fixed position. I've suggested upgrading the side ladder to a hydraulic system and increasing the size of the base to give a platform area, but I still need to research the transom mount version.
Does anyone have any pictures of transom mounted platforms on canoe stern yachts? Or any other ideas?

Er, couldn't you just lower a raft (or skiff) over the side for water entry?

    perfect

OMG that is so perfect, Thank you so much for that.

We actually have a boarding ladder on the side but for some reason the guy wants a platform on the stern???

Well, I think it is harder to seat four people side by side with cocktails in their hands and toes dangling in the water on a side ladder than it is on a stern platform.

And I can think of a few other scenario's...

    Chris,

Just get one of those submersible swim platforms, then you can just launch and retrieve the dinghy off that Sunnseeker style. Kill two birds with one stone, and when you don't need the swim platform you can just sink it!! Think of the interior space you could save.

    LOL

    cool

I used to run a boat with the Hydraulic platform, it was a great toy to have. Lauching the dinghy was so easy, even after a rum or two. So much safer than a crane.
I also loved it while at anchor, just sit on it with it slightly submerged. GORGEOUS!!!!!!
Down side is the mechanisms need a lot of cleaning.
