I am sure many of you have heard about the recent conversion-to yacht-, the "Alucia". She is now an expedition type motor yacht after being changed from an oceanographic research vessel. Since then, she has been completed and is now being put on the market for sale. She is asking 42-Million USD. As usual you are free to add information, pictures and so on as it is relevant.
Refit Design Info Seattle designer, Joseph Artese had a hand in the design work for the refit. He has posted many drawings and photos on his site - http://www.artesedesign.com/motoryacht/alucia.html.
Thank you 'roundthehorn, I did not remember about Joseph Artese, also has a number of past and present projects documented!
You’re welcome, YachtNews. I found this to be a most intriguing conversion both as a exploration vessel and then as a yacht.
Decided to make this old thread about the two vessels, "Alucia" and "OceanXplorer"...which was to become "Alucia 2". Here is a nice video by OceanX.
OceanXplorer will be on your screens later this month on National Geographic's "OceanXplorers" show, helmed by James Cameron (the show, not the ship). Of course, with Cameron being involved there is never-before-seen media gear onboard as well, which should make for some fascinating video. I'm definitely looking forward to watching the show (research ship aside). Here (Canada) it premieres August 28, but in the US episode 1 airs August 18th I think. If you just want to check out the ship, OceanX has a full tour on their YouTube channel:
