Horizon Yachts 105' TrideckMore Altitude on the Horizon! by Capt. Chuck Gnaegy While almost every megayacht producer encourages a dash of buyer participation in the build, the owner of Horizon’s new 105 Tri-Deck initiated a number of structural design ideas. He worked together with the design team to make this extraordinary yacht his dream boat. Horizon’s 105 Tri-Deck follows the well-conceived pattern of classic megayachts. She trips lightly in, without over-ostentatious flare, yet transmits the essence of high style; the aura of ultimate top quality. She is the first of this tri-deck series. Subtle differences throughout reflect the unusual union of designer/owner-shared contributions. For one example, owner Steve Scarpa worked with the Horizon design team to revise the rising sheer angle of the bow by extending it one foot, intended to alter and streamline the already sleek silhouette. Another individual preference by Scarpa changed the stateroom line-up to include merely a trio of lodgings – all king-size – seemingly unusual on a yacht this size. Amidships, the Master suite is beam-width, while the VIP suite stretches forward at the bow. Both feature the luxury of full-size Jacuzzi tubs, along with etched-glass shower enclosures. Other innovations will be noted as we make our further foray into this excellent yacht design.
