    fuel on the west coast

    Hi... we broker fuel on the west coast and depending on volume, the prices in this thread are WAY off base.

    On Dec 15 in San Francisco we completed a 13,000 us gallon event at 1.55 usd per gallon plus the local 8.75% sales tax.

    Another job scheduled for yesterday in San Diego was cancelled due to major weather but price was fixed at 1.70 usd per gallon plus 7.75% tas.

    As I type, fueling 8700 usg in La Paz Mexico at 2.50 usd per gallon.

    About 8 weeks ago the price in San Diego dropped below Mexican prices.

    Mexican prices historically were fixed by the government on the 1st of each month. Several weeks ago that changed and now the price changes weekly, and every change has been up.

    Does any one know a broker up in Fort Pierce. We need 2000+ to top off before We head out to Bahamas. I assume it is cheaper in Fl then in the Bahamas. You can PM me. Thanks

    I don't know of any brokers that are out of Fort Pierce. Check with a few in Fort Lauderdale (port petroleum, anchor petroleum, broward petroleum to name a few) and they may do it for 2,000 gallons or can recommend someone. Also the City of Ft. Pierce will give you a quantity discount or maybe Pelican yacht club, try calling them and telling them you need 2k gallons.

    Fuel in the Bahamas will be $1+ more per gallon with the exception of Nassau or Freeport and they tend to run 50cents a gallon more. Although they may still be sitting on high priced fuel.

    Most marinas in the area won't permit it. You're probably better off shooting over to Norwalk. If the boat is already hauled your marina can probably arrange what's needed.

    Here are some more current prices along the US Gulf Coast for small purchases of 400 to 600 gallons. These are at marinas, not from a fuel truck.
    Panama City, FL City Marina was at $2.46, then the highest was in Venice, LA at $2.69, Cypress Cove Marina. Venice is the last place accessable by road along the Mississippi River. Getting into the "OIL PATCH" area of Louisiana , at Rio Fuel and Supply in Morgan City, LA diesel was $1.85 and in Intracoastal City, LA fuel was $1.75.

    I am on a boat trip now, from Fort Lauderdale to Port Isabel, TX on a 52' Buddy Davis Express, so I will have a couple more reports. It is good to get out of my yachtbrokers office and get some time on the ocean.

    Clearwater municiple marina is usually the cheapest on the west coast of FL, and marco island being the highest from what I've seen. Yankee Town is cheap also if you're unfortunate enough to go there. The furthest west I've been in the gulf in the US, is New Orleans. And also Mexico(Cancun). It sounds like a nice trip on a nice boat.

    $2.29-2.35 here but I saw $2.15 today at the convenience store just a mile from my house.

    The price of gas is rising again, yet the price of crude is falling. Is a profiteer raising a head again? This industry needs enforced regulation.

    paid 1.87 two weeks ago in miami, incl. tax, over 1000USG. as cheap as it gets, no sign of going up.

    Looks to be at the bottom of the "sell short" curve. I'd expect it to go back up. I read somewhere that analysts are talking of $70/bbl as the "long" trade price.
    (in relation to where it is today)

    I'd love nothing more to see it stay where it is now, however I don't think that's going to happen once people start coming out of the doom and gloom of the US economy. Supply and Demand says the price will rise.

    possible, but i also think we have too many analysts in this world... remember that not so long ago these "experts" were predicting $200+/barel!
