Any Capt's that have some advise that make frequent trips in the Caribbean...

What marina's do you recommend to fuel at or to steer clear from in the Caribbean? I recently purchased a Hatteras 92 and I haven't cruised the Caribbean in about a couple years, not since I had my V65... I know things change in a couple years time, but how much...

    Best Regards
    John

Bump. Looking for some fuel facts on those little slabs of Terra Firma rising from the Carib for no apparent reason, except to spawn speculative conjecture on why a can of Coke costs 5 bucks!

The Caribbean used to be known for "iffy" fuel but in 15 years of sailing up and down the island chain, the only "bad shot" I've had was in Portsmouth, Dominica (last year). Otherwise, apart from the extortionate prices in some of the British and independent islands, the fuel quality nowadays is pretty good.

Venezuelan and Trnidadian fuels are not as good as Gulf Coast fuel, Higher sulphur content and not so well refined so its worth asking where the fuel comes from.

Try Global Yacht Fuel 954-462-6050 or globalyachtfuel.com. They have a good handle on the caribbean and you can put it on account. Price is usually cheaper although mainly you are getting it from commercial docks and trucks.
I have used them all over the place and they make life easy.

Congrats John on your Hateras 92. I can tell you Port St. Charles here in Barbados has a smallish fuel dock which of course it big enough to handle your boat size. Our grade is pretty good here.
