I would happily extend the use of my vessel for Sharrow testing.
With me at the helm, of course.
    46 ft, 48000 lbs, inboards.
    Think they'd be interested ?

Assuming your area of operation is the Pacific Northwest, it may be a good idea to investigate repairability of the Sharrow props. Anyone know?
Despite a very cautious watch, I've encountered barely visible and sub-surface objects in the Salish Sea. Logs are abundant, for those unfamiliar with the area.
Besides that, it may be a good idea to get a second opinion on the vibration. Also, if you post a new thread defining the problem, year/model of the boat, and detailed repair efforts, there will likely be some assistance from members on this forum.

I do operate in the PNW. Despite my best efforts, I too have "touched" subsurface wood, which barely and briefly surfaced in my wake! You raise a good point, I'm also wondering about repairability. It's a complex design. It's early days in my due diligence, so we'll see.

The vibration is very slight, but I am a perfectionist. I doubt anyone else would think anything out of the ordinary is occurring. Have had assistance from experts very familiar with the build and power train, hence the work that's been done thus far. So, I think I'm good, thanks.

Props likely the only remaining component to check. I've just had them tuned (after recently hitting something submerged) but haven't yet had an opportunity to sea trial them. Problem may be solved.

    I
    Bingo..
Me too, I have taken boats apart to chase down vibrations and have had props tuned over and over again to get the best efficiency and the least vibration.
Glad I am not the only one..

"Very slight" is of course a bit subjective, but FWIW I've yet to come across any powerboat which I would describe as having no very slight vibrations at all.
Even with the engines off and only the genset running! :)

My slight vibration took a whole new shaft to remove.
The more you leaned (Load, RPM, HP, Hull speed) on it, the more the cork-screw distorted, the more the boat shook.
Since we fast idled mostly, not a deal.
Last fall we replaced that stb shaft finally. WoWa, smooth to the pins.

Your vibration comes from inadequate blade tip clearance. Sharrow props would only exasperate that, if they work any better than VEEMs to begin with, which is questionable at best.

I'd really like to know how you arrived at this conclusion? Toroidal propellers virtually eliminate tip vortices, thus reducing interactions between blade tips and adjacent surfaces…

There's a video of Greg Sharrow speaking at the NMPA convention in November 2022. More tip vortices video and some graphs of test data:

If the content can be taken at face value , the Sharrow prop performance comparison he described was a fair one.

More blade area in a tunnel that's a tad too small.

    Regarding repairs, I noticed this:

Any Sharrow prop that is damaged “during normal operational use” in the first year of ownership, will be repaired or replaced by Sharrow Marine at no cost to the owner. This is part of the “Sharrow Care Protection Plan,” another thing that sets Sharrow Marine apart from any other prop maker. According to the company, if you accidentally run aground and damage a Sharrow prop, it will be repaired by a certified repair shop or replaced by Sharrow Marine. Customers can even extend their Sharrow Care Protection Plan beyond the first year, for up to 5 years of protection.

I turned a friend of mine on to these props and he put them on the 42’ Freeman with quad Mercs he has as a tender.

So far he’s very pleased with the results and they perform as advertised.

I am also impressed with the performance, the technology and especially the noise level going down.
I would buy a $5k prop, but Mama should not know about it, she has no understanding of the finer things in life.
