Absolutely, Maui looks as Lurssen as its possible to be whereas Icecap looks like a true explorer yacht of the sort that have only existed as concepts to date.

Maui apparently has a helicopter hanger in her bow Madame Gu style.

I thought Palo Alto was the 111m launched in early November 2016? I would expect her to re-appear almost complete sometime in the next few months

I am pretty sure, that you are right. I was confused, because this project is also known under the name TIS. But it should be the same boat.

Has Project Maui been moved into a finishing shed yet? If not, she would probably be waiting on Palo Alto to come out so she can move in.

Good point! I think there is only one other shed in Rendsburg, which is large enough for Maui. And this one is occoupied with Palo Alto...
Good chance we will see her soon :)

Maui appears to have become Fiji today. An additional photo of her launch, taken from above, has also been released- no sign of the reported bow helicopter storage.

I am pretty sure, that this is Icecap. The yacht looks very unusal for Lürssen, but typical for Kleven. Good for us, Kleven has no covered shed, they bulid their yachts in open drydocks. So we will get a good impression very early.

CEO Peter Lürssen just announced, that this project (Icecap) is just the beginning of a new productline of explorer yachts. If this one is successful, the cooperation with Kleven will be continued.

According to the facebook page of Salt Ship Design in Norway they will design and engineer this yacht for Kleven/Luerssen.

I dont know if this was already posted here but i just realized that "Northern Star" was renamed "Bella Vita" following her sale.
I remember that there was a F45 Feadship called Bella Vita as well.

Interesting. It makes sense though as both those yachts were brokered by the same company.

This thread has been running since Sept 2009. It has accumulated 777 posts. It's been great form of information on the latest launches from Lurssen, but too much information is buried deep within thread, making it difficult to find specifics on certain yachts. I think it's best to close the thread and in the future, let's open new threads for each specific new build. Not only will this give us better indexing in Google, it will enhance search results within YF.

I'm also going to close all the other big news threads from the major superyacht builders. I hope everyone is OK with this decision. I think it's in the best interest of SEO for YF, as well as reader interest.

Over the holidays, I'll try to dissect these News threads, placing posts on specific yachts into their own individual thread titles.

777 posts is a LOT of posts to wade through!

Makes me wonder if the brand new 73M "Podium" from Feadship is the successor to the ex. Lurssen "Linda Lou"/"Limelight"/"Podium".
