1987 Carver mariner waste tank shape and location ?

    I bought a 1987 Carver mariner that was in pretty bad shape with the intention of restoring it. It has rebuilt 4-53 Detroits, trans, and v-drives (only 400 hours on all). With a decent interior and it needs a paint job and a lot of body work. My question is the location of the waste tank. Carver sent me a drawing which shows it in the bow and its a 40 gallon tank. The drawing just shows a square not the dimensions or the shape. I believe the tank should be located directly under the forward air conditioner support platform and "V" shaped, but I am not sure.
    Can anyone send me a couple of pictures or tell me for sure where this waste tank fits in? I will be soo happy to have a head that I can actually use.:)

    Well finding a tank on a boat that size shouldn't be too hard. Open every hatch, pull every cushion and look. Also, trace the hose from the head and see where they lead as well as the pump out hose from the deck fitting

    Usually tanks are put in engine rooms to reduce smell... kind of odd to put it at the bow under a berth and near an air con

    Thanks for your answer Pascal. The mariner is a 36' 1987 .There is no waste tank in the boat. There is a new head and masserator pump which goes directly out the bottom which is just behind the forward birth air conditioner support platform under the bed. The pump out hose is in the bow and feeds down again under the forward air conditioner platform and has a plug in it. The air conditioner had been removed and all ducts removed vents were all covered. Looks like the had some leaks and busted a tank and removed everything. I still don't know exactly where the waste tank goes.

    Not having a tank is illegal and will result in a big fine if boarded / inspected. Temporarily, you can close th sea cock and remove the handle to at least be legal (assuming the boat is in the water)

    Carver may have put the tank in the main cabin and near an air con back then but I would not do that. Sooner or later you re going to get smells. Find some space in the engine room and install it there. Builders, especially entry level builders, often set up systems based on ease of install or costs... especially back then in the 80s

    The talk is under the forward birth.. nice.. it can be accessed by removing the screws on the drawer unit under the bed at the foot.. it is rectangular and is approx 40 gals.. have fun it’s a beast to get out...
