Need suggestions about Yacht Engineering

    Hello guys.

    In Turkey i graduated Maritime college in 2009 after 1 year had been working as an cadet i took 3000 kw engineer officer and with this i have 30 months sea service on many Cargoship until beginning of September and September i just started working 40 meter motoryacht as an chief (Turkish owner) Marshall flag but couple of people told me i need yacht engineering qualifications for better jobs and first one is AEC approved engineering certificate my question is really am I need it what should i do and in Turkey there is no crew training course about that also approved by MCA please help me what should i do?

    If you have Chief Engineer 3000kw licence and it is fully compliant with the STCW Regulations and Turkey is on the IMO white list you should be able to get a flag state endorsement to use it on a yacht.

    Are you Second Engineer Officer? What is preventing you becoming a Chief Engineer? Is it sea time?

    And K1W1 is your best choice for understanding so your idea of emailing what you have to him is excellent.

    I graduated maritime college 2009 and after that total 42 months worked cargo ships as an cadet and engineer officer with 3000 kw engineer officer qualification with fully fit stcw certificate but beginning of the September i have starting to work 40 meter private motor yacht as an chief engineer but this is Turkish maybe after more experience i would like to work foreign boat i mean looking better Job and when i was is MYS 2016 all i have talked engineer has MCA approved certificates actually i do not know what i need more if you like please i can show you what i have because in this way i need big brothers experience.

    I would be glad to assist but K1W1 has much more knowledge of MCA than I do as I'm US based only. I am familiar with the STCW endorsements for engineers and there are only two endorsements for each kW/HP and that is Chief Engineer and Second Engineer Officer.

    The guy sent me his ticket by e mail.

    It is a 3rd Engineer unlimited ticket and officer of the watch under 3000kw. I would hope he can get a start with Y4 or MEOL which is better than AEC as he obviously has some experience

    I suggest sending all qualifying certificates to yacht's flag state for evaluation with the objective of flag state issuing a yacht limited certificate of competence based on formal training and commercial experience.

    It is not unusual for flag to issue a CoC or yacht endorsement at a higher level than the underlying certificate.

    I can not understand no body know the rules in training courses. More then more i sent mail but they just suggested me to asked MCA official website. Yes i tried it but no body answer me. Yes Meol or Y4 better for me but i do not know what can i do All thanks sorry anybody knows training course can i talk i mean they have good experience.

    You don't need a training course, you need a flag state endorsement based on your current CoC.

    Look on the back of your boat, what country's flag is it flying? Ask the captain if you don't recognize it.

    If the flag is not that of the UK, you don't need to waste time or money on any MCA paperwork.

    Google the maritime administration of that country and contact them with your questions. Good luck.

    Keep reaching out the the MCA, or Cayman Islands Shipping Register. They aren't very good at responding to random inquiries. In 2014 it took me three months of sending emails before I received a response in my efforts to obtain a CoC. It's much easier if you're on a Cayman Flagged vessel, as they have to reply to the crew on those boats.

    This is Marshall Island i can message them but what about better job if i want to work an other boat many captain wants MCA approved. Also i have 3000 kw engineer officer what will they send me Y4/Y3
