How do they know it's never happened before? Do they mean just the most recent .00005% of the earth's total time in existence? Because that's about all they can confirm.

In California the building El Nino this year has resulted in the most epic fishing in my lifetime. Anyway, California has been through El Nino before, as recently as the 1980's and again in the 1990's and I don't remember the world coming to an end.

Since most YF members are not based in California allow me to fill in some enviromental details for you. Drought, fires, floods, earthquakes, there's always a disaster right around the corner. This must appeal to an awful lot of people because there are way too many here.

I have heard and seen some PBS shows that documented the big increase in fish, whale, shark, and other species migration to that California coast this year.

I wasn't so concerned about its affect on Calif, but that is the way the article was titled, so I left it that way.

I'm more concerned with how it might affect the winter on the east coast of the USA. And I didn't say (nor did the article) that the world was coming to an end. But supposedly it is the biggest El Nino of modern times, and could affect our USA considerable this winter. Will be interesting to follow.

I wish there was a true neutral media that explained all sides of every/any issue.

Not to get into a debate, There IS biased programming to be found on PBS. If any subject sparks a personal interest, then investigate for more details before assuming any PBS event as factual.

PBS productions have to fill a time window. In this window they want to appeal to an audience that believes in quick stories. There is never enough time to explain any other possibility to the same issue.

Yes. It's going to rain. A lot. We don't go a day in CA without hearing all about it.

Some folks just seem to have a harder time with naturally occurring earthly happenings than others...
