    How pathetic...a multi- million dollar yacht torn apart, if you look closely they tore 3/4 of the port side off to steal whatever they could. If that were my boat, I would have put a 24 hr. armed guard to protect it. And the onlookers didn't seem to care one way or the other. Well, that certainly puts Brazil into a new light for me. I have a friend of mine who is opening a couple of retail stores for their product, which is going Global, and he told me that Brazil is THE most corrupt Country to do business with.

    I think it's a safe bet that the seas tore the port side off. Who would tear that side off and face the seas as they try to walk off with a TV? I'm sure the owners would have had their valuables off in 5 days. The rest is just salvage; not worth the price of the guards. The grafitti and stealing are no surprise, and wouldn't be if it were in any other part of the world either. Only things questionable I saw were 1) the skipper's decision to cruise so close to the beach, and 2) that nobody has taken the anchor in 5 days. Brazil may or may not be as you claim, but I don't think this one incident is prood of that.

    Really? If the Seas did that, she wasn't a very well built boat...was she? I can't imagine a boat that size not being able to withstand those size waves.

    You really need to look into the power of the sea. It's picking that boat up and dropping it down, and slamming it with thousands of pounds all day and night. Eventually it'll tear that boat into scraps. Why rip the side off when you can walk in the door? Granted that blue collar criminals aren't generally major brain trusts, but I think they can figure that out.

    Point taken, NYCAP. I've done a lot of research into rouge waves, and the damage they do even on steel ships. So I guess that kind of pounding would take it's toll.

    I agree with NYCAP. The sea is a VERY powerful machine and would do that to most any fiberglass boat. Steel would probably fair much better in that situation. A few years back a 48' Searay sedan Bridge ran aground in the devil's backbone when it was 8' on the way into Harbour Island (BAhamas) and was beam to the sea on the beach. In one night, the sea filled the ENTIRE interior of the boat with sand to the salon ceiling.

    Back to the beach: Why the did those guys not deploy an anchor or two while still in deep water, then call the tug?
    It seems incredibly basic :(

    If you look at the start of the video, you'll see that they were never in deep water. That's why I wrote "Only things questionable I saw were 1) the skipper's decision to cruise so close to the beach," Besides the lesson they learned, cruising that close to the surfline at a populated beach makes it real easy to run over a swimmer. When I lived in Lauderdale someone ran over an EMT diving from shore, took his legs and never came forward. Dangerous action. Obviously he didn't care about swimmers, but I bet he bemoans losing his boat and the money it'll cost him.

    Yeah, deep water is relative in this case. 6 feet under the keel would have saved the boat if an anchor was used. Not sure if they lost power or steering, or if the crew was all passed out from too many caipirinhas?
    I remember an accident off the beach here in SE Florida where a power boat cut the legs of a diver. The boater was an ER Doctor and did not even stop to help, what a disgusting piece of human sh!t. (Instead he continued to the dock so he could call his lawyer)
    I and many other divers donated $ to the injured diver.

    Info to Boaters: A Dive flag means Slow Down and Keep Distance.

    Off the subject again, but NYCAP reminded me of a particular ugly accident.
