Ain't that the truth! Great high solids pigment. Sanded like buttah! Brushed like a sheet of glass when reduced a little. Z spar 99 & 101 Alkyd enamels or oil bases paint. heck u could almost paint them over a puddle of oil and they would stick. painted many engine rooms spraying Z spar through a Wagner power painter and they were works of art back in the day.

the sad part is that the folks who thought that these modern paints would solve their painting problems, ($$$$$), went to the new fancy stuff(" only have to paint every 17 years'')and it caused a lot of problems (rot) in some beautiful, classic wooden boats that were damaged beyond reasonable repair by Alwgrip

Awlgrip black on my Californian, Imron black on my Formula. Hands down, Imron wins with shine, depth, ease of washing. But that is probably the application and technique used by the Formula people involved vs. the product?
They both look of black to me.

Do you wash the Awlgrip with Awlwash soap and have never waxed it?

Correct, awlwash only. No wax, especially now that I have read more about it. My detailer is a pro and is very much in the camp of do what the manufacturer recommends.

How is it easier to wash the Imron over Awlgrip? Does debris not stick to it as well or is it more critical to chamois the Awlgrip, or?

I find water stains and drip lines are close to never visible on thr Imron, the Awlgrip is more prone to showing these.

I am not sure comparing is ideal as I don't know who painted the Awlgrip.

As it is I will vote for Imron. While my Formula bowrider is rack stored indoors, I have a dock neighbor with a '09 (same year as my Califirnian)40PC blue Imron that is stunning and she is washed once a month.

I have the Californian washed every two weeks with awlwash.
