I have a 40' Cabo with twin MAN 800s. I believe I might have a vibration issue at cruise but wanted to get some opinions. The cockpit area of the boat is vibrating quite a bit at cruise speed. If the gunnel locker latches are not very tight, those rattle to the point of annoyance. The tuna door "cap" needs to be locked down or it rattles. Heck, even the transom of the boat has an evident vibration if you put your hand against it at cruise.

So, is this normal? Maybe I'm asking too much. The props and cutlass bearings have been checked. All okay there.

I don't want to spend a bunch of money chasing a problem that can't be solved...

    Good afternoon,
I can't think, for the life of me, that a reputable builder like Cabo would design and sell a boat with a built in vibration. Can't say what the cause is but it doesn't seem natural, normal or acceptable. Maybe an engine/transmission mount?

It would pay to have all of the running gear "target" aligned and include an inspection of the shafts to make sure there isn't slight bend in one of them. Also have them check the props to make sure they're lapped onto the taper properly.

You have a small boat powered by two large diesel engines. Unless properly aligned, seated and fastened, preferably with insulating perimeter tape, hatches will rattle.

This thread has been moved to the Cabo forum, where it should have been posted to begin with.
