The year 2014 has been another remarkable year around the world for large custom superyacht builds. The world's top shipyards as no surprise top the top ten list of large and extravagant superyachts launched in the period of 2014. Without further ado, here are the top 10 yachts of 2014.

    NUMBER 10

    Lurssen
launched a number of superyachts in 2014, been a good year for them. Their smallest launch still made it into the top ten, just barely... She is the 66-meter Espen Oeino designed "Ester III" (ex. Project Green). She has an interior by Reymond Langton and covers four decks above the waterline and boasts features such as a helipad on the roof of the bridge. Since being launched in the Summer of 2014, she has been delivered to her owners and is presently in the Caribbean enjoying the Winter 2014/15 season. At this particular moment she is at sea heading to Antigua.

    NUMBER 9

Italian builder ISA (International Shipyards of Ancona) launched one of their largest yachts of 2014. She goes by the name "Okto" and showcases a striking and pristine 66.40-meter black hull and accents and metallic grey superstructure. The design is compliments of Andrea Vallicelli with an interior by Alberto Pinto design firm. She is one of the larger models in the new Granturismo line offered by ISA. This displacement superyacht was delivered and initially seen in Summer ports such as Malta.

    NUMBER 8

Another Italian made superyacht creeps in at number 8, manufactured by CRN. She is the 73-meter displacement yacht "Yalla", a very sleek and very reminiscent to the Heesen superyacht "Galactica Star". She was launched earlier in the year around May and represented the first superyacht at CRN to be built on a new 12.5-meter BOA platform. Omega Architects are responsible for the sleek exterior while Droulers Architecture have done the interior.

    NUMBER 7

Boldly sailing into the number 7 spot for 2014 is the 82-meter "Kibo" built by German custom yard Abeking & Rasmussen. She rises over five decks and offers a somewhat reserved design by Terence Disdale. The interior is equally as stunning. She sits as the second largest build by A&R at 81.8-meters... just a shade behind the another A&R, "Secret".

    NUMBER 6

Another Espen Oeino design leaps into the 2014 top 10. This time from Dutch superyacht builder OceAnco. Representing the 10th 700 series superyacht by this builder, Y710 with naval architecture by Azure Naval Architects, is on the verge of delivery to her owners. Her final name is "Infinity" as we all know already. Infinity is 88.50-meters overall and takes the number 6 spot for 2014 launch.

    NUMBER 5

Half way up the 2014 launch countdown is a very confidential project and one from another Dutch custom superyacht builder. Feadship launched this massive 92.5-meter superyacht only going by her build number Feadship XL1005. -hull 5 in Feadship's Xtra Large custom sereies-. She takes the title as largest Feadship launched in 2014 but isnt the largest Feadship to date. The 99-meter XL1004, "Madame GU" takes those honours overall at the moment. However, 1005 can boast having the largest pool ever installed on a Feadship though.

    NUMBER 4

    Lurssen
shows up again in the top 10 and not for the last time either. Another superyacht for a repeat customer who has upgraded in a very large way. Owning Kismet, the well known owner upscaled and superseded is past yacht of the same name. This yacht measuring in at 95-meters was built under the project name GLOBAL and features exterior design by Espen Oeino with a Reymond Langton interior.

    NUMBER 3

If you thought German builders were finished with the top ten, look again! Number 3 comes compliments of Kusch Yachts. Their nearly 101-meter Project V853 is staggering in size even though her design does not lend to thinking that. Rumoured to be called "iDynasty" the yacht was launched in November 2014. Vega Yachts are responsible for her exterior while Studio Massari are on the interior design.

    NUMBER 2

Yes, Lurssen again takes number two spot with the 104-meter Topaz-esq "Quantum Blue". Spreading over a palatial five decks, this Tim Heywood design takes high-life excess to another level with her interior by Alberto Pinto Firm. Helipads are a must and she has them, speed she has that too for her displacement. She sails right into the second spot behind our number 2014 launch.

    NUMBER 1

Number 1 belongs to an Italian this time around. Commercial and cruiseship yard Fincantieri and their yacht division Fincantieri Yachts launched the largest superyacht of 2014, the 140-meter Project Victory. She has also been delivered to her owner with the final name "Ocean Victory". If she looks anything like the 134-meter "Serene" built by the same yard, should be no surprises there. She has everything from multiple helipads to tonnes of storage for her numerous toys, underwater viewing room and so on. At this same time last year, the top 10 was dominated by the 180-meter "Azzam" built by the Germans, Lurssen.
