    rough transcript of a "conversation" on ch 16, overheard at Shroud Cay, Exumas a couple of days ago...

    Anchored boat 1. : to anyone in the shroud cay mooring field, the tender which just threw a big wake thru the anchorage came from the yacht --------
    Anchored boat 2: say again?
    Anchored boat 1: just telling everyone the name of the boat whose tender thru a big wake, it s -------.
    ------ tender: I know which boat you're on, I m going to over with a couple of my guys
    Anchored boat 1: anytime buddy
    Anchored boat 2: i wonder how you got a job on a megayacht with that temper and attitude
    Anchored boat 3: I am not sure if I will post this on Triton.com, ************ or Yachtforums.com

    Followed by complete silence from whoever was driving "tender to ------ "


    Since anchored boat 3 has not posted this anywhere I figured I woudl, but concealing the identity of the jerk....

    "I'm coming over with a couple of my guys..." is a direct threat of violence. Perhaps the driver of the tender did not know they were throwing such a wake. Unless we know the prior history of this yacht's tender we cannot say that the driver was an a** or a newbie. Perhaps the anchored boat #1 is a easily angered cranky guy. Who knows?

    Who knows.

    It is rude to keep your head up your own butt and rock your neighbors. Sometimes you have to help these (self asp examiners) lost folks to see some light, stars, hand justers, or more.

    I do remember one day and night some lost guy kept running thru the anchorage south of Peanut island (not in the ICW or east channel) but straight thru. Despite international hand signals. I think he picked up about 400 yards of 80# mono his last pass.

    There are personal payback routines out there. And Karma helps.

    As the captain of a mid to larger sportfish everyone hates me when I travel up and down the coast. They most often believe I'm going to wake them. The best way for me to kill the wake is to slow down quickly and the wave hits the transom and just dies. People have screamed and jumped up and down and called me all sorts of names before any wake hits them- because they assume I won't slow down- which I always do. Slower boats will not let go thru bridges first which always makes me laugh. I pass you now while we are waiting or later when you are going 6 knots and I'm going 7- your choice. Not that this has anything to do with a tender thru an anchorage- but some people get their undies in a wad well before anything has been done.

    I don't know about the tender or tender operator, but I definitely have an opinion of Anchored boat 1 and that opinion is quite negative.

    We know our ole girl makes surf. In the ditch were pretty slow and crawl when we get close to anything. It's just the right and safe thing to do. Were out there to relax, not rock somebody else world. We do run outside any chance we get.

    It does get on your nerves when some twin stern drive punk just wants to show where his head is. And demonstrates his head position a few times. And rocks our world. As I was explaining above.

    Bamboo... Call it racial profiling :) almost every big wake I have received on th ICW was from a large sportfish. When I run fast on the ICW and come up behind a slower boat, I call them on 16 to let them know I will slow to idle before reaching them. If they don't monitor 16... Not my problem. I can just imagine how bad a 70' MY must look when closing at 22kts...

    Shame is a powerful tool and if sometime is rude enough to rock a dozen boat in a peaceful anchorage they dserve to be called out. No excuse for that...
