We have a 42" Bertram Motoryacht 1983 and need to remove the aft starboard side window in order to get a refrigerator inside. Does anyone have any experience removing these windows? Thanks!

I just did this same exercise one week ago on my Hatteras 41. The windows that I removed were sliders on the stbd aft. We took the glass out of the frame which required removal of a wood block at the top track that allowed the forward glass panel to slide aft. With the aft portion slid forward both pieces of glass are supposed to then lift up and out from the bottom. They did not. We had to jack open the aluminum frame using two jacks to spread it enough to get the glass out. It all worked out and the new refrigerator came in fine. Glass went back in the same way it came out as we left the jacks in place until we were finished.

If the window you're looking at removing is fixed, you may want to instead try the sliding glass removal route first. YF user rcrapps is a Bertram guy. He likely knows exactly how to do it. Hopefully he will weigh in.

We drop everything thru the coach roof hatch Or over the stern.

We do need to replace the guides in our after windows. Currently glass edge on metal. One of those projects I keep putting off (10 years now). Looks like a plate comes off the bottom and the guide comes out with the window(s).

There is a shop in Marathon Fl that supports older Bertrams. Look up High Tide marine.

When You figure it out, Please update us

You may consider stripping out the forward deck hatch and pushing in/out thru there if your galley down.

    I remember a P J; saws-all is your friend.
Multi drawer units were installed replacing the old fridge, some loss of low storage, some new high storage, owners wife was very happy.
