This request goes out specifically to our senior members. If you have an avatar, it's easier for folks to follow you when they are reading a thread or glance at an index page. I'm about to do a mail-out to our member base notifying of the new YF, so now is the time to uploaded your avatar. PLEASE use something nautically inspired. Your boat, a burgee, ship's bell, compass rose, anchor, wheel, etc. We don't allow mug shots (no matter how pretty you think you are!)

Political or religious graphics, babes-in-bikinis or cartoon characters are inappropriate. Why? Because once someone pushes the boundaries of subjective taste, it opens Pandora's box and I've got enough to do without battling bullheads. Remember, it's important to choose an avatar that symbolizes our maritime theme and creates a welcoming, tasteful environment... unlike some forums with avatars that make the whole group look like mutinous misfits.

Avatars should be 96 x 96 pixels. If it's larger, the image may get cropped. If it's smaller, the resolution will be reduced and you'll have a blurry avatar.

    Thanks!

Errrmmm... I am utterly at loss here. Does a penguin qualify as nautically inspired?

I've noticed that, with the new foremat, the member's location is no longer shown below the avatar. The member's location is important as it has direct relevance to the type of boating and maintenance, etc. a person experiences and their viewpoint. I understand that info can be had by clicking on the avatar, but why the extra step now.

My avatar has been cropped on the new board.
Any chance of getting the full image back?

    Dag,

Your original avatar won't work. If you send me the original (full size) image, I'll crop, size and upload for you.
