    Not sure that this is news...it is to me. There hasn't been a formal announcement yet, but Ocean Alexander has purchased the new Bertram yard on Merrit Island. They are going to build a 65' there and then most likely a 72' later on. I spoke with a friend of mine who works for them out on the west coast. I was inquiring as to what was going on with the Christensen yard, they (OA) still have two boats under construction, the yard is sending bills, and OA is paying them...but he still has no clue at to the final outcome of the Christensen yard. I asked if he would keep me informed...he said he would. Just thought the YF crew might be interested.

    I wonder, did Bertram keep the 350 SeaRay Drive address while they were there?

    Probably, I don't think they were there long enough to change it :eek:

    What do I know...I was just parroting what I was told. Is it possible there's another facility available? I was told that they haven't announced it yet due to the tax breaks they got that have yet to be approved. So I have no way to verify it.

    Well, Searay's website that I posted now shows that factory on their website again....I would GUESS they own it. No, there is nowhere else in that area that is a factory......there is a marina with a bunch of boats, but don't think you could build OAs there......

    Sea Ray is reopening the plant they call Sykes Creek. This is on Merritt Island and next door to the ir old "Merritt Island " plant that was sold to Bertram. The Sykes Creek plant houses Sea Ray's P.D.&E department plus sales for larger yachts. They used to build larger yachts and some Meridians there and will once again. Current production of yacts is at their Palm Coast facility, but they are busting out at the seams due to demand.
